A Nostalgic Journey: Jacky Cheung's First Concert in Korea

Hello, this is Helen, a newbie blogger!
I occasionally enjoy going to concerts and musicals. This time, I went to Jacky Cheung's concert, one of the Four Heavenly Kings of Hong Kong, which brought back memories of my time studying in China! Last Saturday, so~ many people came to Jacky Cheung's concert at the Inspire Arena in Incheon!
I wanted to share the excitement and memories of attending the first-ever Korean concert of Jacky Cheung (張學友), one of the Four Heavenly Kings of Hong Kong and known as the "God of Songs" (歌神) in China!
Have you ever heard of the Four Heavenly Kings of Hong Kong?
It refers to the four legendary singers (Andy Lau, Leon Lai, Jacky Cheung, and Aaron Kwok) who swept across Asia in the 90s. Among them, Jacky Cheung (張學友), also known as the "God of Songs," is still widely loved today.
While studying in China, I once went to an Andy Lau concert. Going to Jacky Cheung's concert this time makes me so~ proud to have attended the concerts of two of the Heavenly Kings! 😀

Born on July 10, 1961, in Hong Kong. His father is from Tianjin, and his mother is from Shanghai.
Real Name: 張學友 (Jacky Cheung Hok-Yau)
Height: 176cmNickname: God of Songs (歌神) – His singing ability and emotional delivery are truly irreplaceable!
Debut: Originally, he worked at Cathay Pacific Airways in Hong Kong before winning the Hong Kong Amateur Singing Contest in 1984, which marked the beginning of his full-fledged singing career.
When you think of Jacky Cheung, everyone immediately recalls the glamorous title of one of the Four Heavenly Kings and the God of Songs. However, if you delve a little deeper into his life, you'll discover an unexpected background.
That's his experience working at Cathay Pacific Airways!
In the early 1980s, before pursuing his dream of becoming a singer, Jacky Cheung worked as a Reservations Officer at Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong's leading airline. During those days, he was an ordinary office worker, but he never gave up his passion for singing and finally participated in the 1984 Hong Kong Amateur Singing Contest, where he proudly won and embarked on his path as a singer.

My younger sibling told me a month ago that Jacky Cheung was holding a concert in Korea, so I searched for tickets. ㅋ
I originally planned to go with my sibling, but due to the young age of their child, my daughter and I went to the Jacky Cheung concert instead.
Jacky Cheung's concert took place last Saturday, September 13, 2025 (????), at Inspire Arena in Yeongjongdo, Incheon. Inspire Arena is a popular spot on social media, so I've always wanted to visit. ^^ When my daughter and I arrived at Inspire by taxi from Incheon Airport, my preteen daughter, who loves pretty and glamorous things, had a sparkle in her eyes ✨. ㅋㅋ
We took the airport railroad from our home and arrived at Incheon Airport!
We were going to take the free shuttle bus from Incheon Airport Terminal 1, but we wanted to go early, so
we took a taxi from the taxi stand with a "Yeongjongdo" sign. It cost about 8,000 to 9,000 won to get to Inspire. (A Chinese woman didn't line up, which was a little annoying. I almost told her to line up in Chinese: 请排队! qǐng páiduì!!)

My daughter and I arrived at the concert venue 1 hour and 30 minutes before the show!
There were so~ many Chinese people near the Inspire Arena concert hall. I heard Chinese everywhere ^^. I went into a convenience store to buy some food, and a Taiwanese woman asked me about the taste of a triangular kimbap in English, so I replied in Chinese. Another Chinese man asked me a question as well, and I enjoyed being able to communicate in Chinese. ㅋㅋ
I booked seats on the second floor, but thankfully, the distance wasn't too far.
I don't know if it was prepared by Jacky Cheung's fan club, but there were cheering sticks & banners on each seat, creating a concert atmosphere no less impressive than that of any K-pop star! 😀

Jacky Cheung Arrives!!
OMG~ Jacky Cheung oppa~ or should I say uncle~ has arrived!!
Actually, I'm not a Jacky Cheung fan, but... I like two of Jacky Cheung's songs, so
I got a little excited when Jacky Cheung appeared. ㅋㅋㅋ
The Chinese fans didn't shout "Wow~" that much, which was unexpected. ^^;
Rather, a few Korean fans were cheering enthusiastically. ㅋㅋㅋ

Sixty-four years old~ Jacky Cheung, who is the same age as my mother~~ seems to manage himself so well that he can even pull off tight leather outfits ^^.
Is this a dream~ or reality~ I sometimes~ listen to Jacky Cheung's songs on YouTube...
It was a little hard to believe that the singer was right in front of me~!! 😀
I think Jay Chou & Wang Leehom were more popular during our time. ㅋ
Personally, I'm a fan of Wang Leehom, so I hope he will also hold a concert in Korea. hehehe

Jacky Cheung Concert Scene
Personally, I shed a little tear when Jacky Cheung sang this song ㅠ
I'm getting older too... 20 years ago, Jacky Cheung was a middle-aged man in his 40s, and I was 20...
I felt sorry for the passage of time, and because he was about the same age as my parents, it overlapped with my parents getting older, and various emotions crossed my mind ㅠ
“珍惜当下 Cherish the present”
Anyway, time will pass, and I should live hard every day hehehe

Jacky Cheung's concert gave me more excitement than I expected. The whole performance was like watching a musical, and the Korean words he prepared were a blast! haha. It was also impressive to see him singing in sync with the live band. Although the concert was planned by Inspire Arena targeting Chinese-speaking fans, it seems to have been a good opportunity to evoke nostalgia for those who studied abroad in China, even if only for a short period of time. 😀
