PHAL offers specialty coffee, brunch, and desserts.
From 7 PM, it transforms into a bar serving beer, whiskey, and highballs.
Complete with a cozy terrace in the back,
PHAL is a cafe in Seochon where you can enjoy without the wait.
Exterior
Located in an accessible spot at the beginning of Seochon.
1. 7-minute walk from Gyeongbokgung Station (Subway Line 3, Exit 2)
2. Take Jongno Village Bus No. 9 and get off in front of the store (shortest walking distance)
These are the two ways to get here.
Even though the hot weather should have passed, the weather is still very hot.
I took the bus, the second option.
Menu
The tablet menu with images helps people who have trouble deciding.
Brunch is only available from 10:00 to 14:00.
Interior
The interior is minimalist and clean.
I spotted a trustworthy La Marzocco espresso machine.
The tempting showcase displays scones, pound cakes, and Basque cheesecake.
There are various seating options, including a standing bar, a large table for groups, a bar table by the window, and tables for 2-4 people.
You can choose a seat that suits your purpose.
The view from the window provides a relaxing Seochon atmosphere.
I've visited twice, and I'm always grateful there's no waiting.
There are side chairs and baskets for storing luggage at each seat.
Americano ₩5,000
Vanilla Latte ₩6,500
I ordered an iced Americano to have with French toast.
My friend stuck to their usual vanilla latte.
Wi-Fi
The Wi-Fi password is on the card you receive with your coffee, along with some simple cafe information.
The restroom is located on the 2nd floor of the building.
French Toast ₩13,000
It's a basic French toast with fruit.
It looks beautiful, but the toppings are very simple.
Just half an orange slice and one and a half Shine Muscat grapes?.... ㅠㅠ
Looking at the size of the bread,
the price is definitely a bit high!!
However, the maple syrup isn't too sweet, so it's good as a dessert.
Prosciutto French Toast ₩15,000
I ordered the Prosciutto French Toast on my first visit.
The combination of salty and sweet from the prosciutto and syrup is delightful.
Topped with arugula and prosciutto, it feels more like a brunch or meal.
Personally, I preferred the basic French toast over the prosciutto one!
Many customers were reading or using their laptops.
However, there aren't outlets at every seat, so charging may be difficult.
Terrace
It may not seem like it from the entrance, but there's a hidden terrace in the back.
The window connecting to the kitchen is probably part of the ventilation system?
Behind the low wall, you can see a small alleyway.
It's an outdoor seating area with a cozy atmosphere due to the traditional Korean houses (Hanoks).
Hoping for the season to enjoy the terrace to come...
I recommend this cafe as a great place to relax for visitors who like Seochon but dislike waiting.
