The interior was lovely, and my husband had made a reservation for our anniversary at Sushi Sora Mapo, which I had wanted to visit.
Upon arrival, we were guided to our seats, which were pre-assigned rather than chosen on arrival.
As it was an omakase, the seating was arranged in a way that allowed us to enjoy the chef's performance.
We were offered a complimentary corkage fee on weekdays, so we brought champagne.
At precisely 6 PM, the omakase began, and we were asked if we had any food allergies or dislikes.
The first dish was flounder, which we were told could be enjoyed with salt or soy sauce. My husband preferred salt, while I enjoyed both.
The smoked mackerel was served with pickled onions, perfectly seasoned, and it was delightful.
Next came the monkfish liver, which was generously served and tasted heavenly with the truffle on top.
The egg custard, topped with pumpkin sauce, was warm and soft, making it a perfect palate cleanser.
As the meal progressed, we enjoyed various sushi, each one carefully crafted and delicious.
The meal concluded with a warm salmon rice bowl, which was subtly seasoned. We were also offered a chance to enjoy some of the dishes again as an encore sushi.
The final dessert was a homemade pomegranate ice cream, which was surprisingly rich in flavor.
In conclusion, Sushi Sora Mapo is an excellent choice for anniversaries or special occasions. The atmosphere is pleasant, the prices are reasonable, and the staff is friendly.
Overall, our experience was memorable, and I would love to visit again!
