ManDong Bakery: A Must-Visit Bakery in Gangneung Central Market


Today, I'm writing about a bakery that I couldn't help but stop by again: ManDong Bakery!
It's so famous that many of you have probably already visited, but I tried it once before and vowed to return.
On this second visit, I truly understood why it's considered one of the best restaurants in Gangneung Central Market.
They offer about 20 different types of bread.
While the selection isn't huge, the secret to ManDong Bakery's popularity is that every single bread is delicious.
Seriously, they're all delicious!

This time, I packed four kinds: Garlic Baguette, Emmental Cheese Bread, Walnut Bread, and Salt Soboro.
The only reason I got a variety is because I'm confident that ‘You won't regret eating anything at ManDong Bakery’ haha.

ManDong Bakery's Signature – Garlic Baguette

The garlic baguette is the main attraction here. The outside is crispy, but the inside is moist and soaked with flavor, making it completely different from ordinary garlic bread.
The sweet and savory garlic butter sauce penetrates deep into the bread, bursting with savory flavor with every bite.
I ate it while exclaiming, ‘Ah, so that's why it's the signature.’
Emmental Cheese Bread – A Cheese Bomb Full of Flavor

If you like cheese, you absolutely have to try this. The unique, rich flavor of Emmental cheese is melted into the bread, and every bite is filled with a savory and salty taste.
The bread texture is also chewy, making it delightful to eat, and it paired perfectly with coffee.
Walnut Bread – The Ultimate Savory Delight

The moment you take a bite of the walnut bread, you'll feel the savory crunch of the walnut pieces.
The inside is subtly sweet, making it not too heavy, and perfect for a snack.
I thought it would be a great gift, especially for parents.
Salt Soboro – A Simple Yet Strangely Addictive Taste

Soboro bread is a common item, so I didn't have high expectations, but this was different.
The outside is crispy and savory, while the inside is soft and moist.
A little bit of salt on top balances the sweetness of the soboro with a salty flavor, and this combination is subtly addictive.

It was the kind of taste that kept me reaching for more, even though I only intended to eat one.
Why is it one of the best restaurants in Gangneung Central Market?

There are many bakeries, but ManDong Bakery's charm lies in its solid foundation.
Beyond just being delicious, you can definitely feel the care and expertise put into each and every bread.
That's why it's satisfying even on repeat visits, and it makes you want to try other menu items.
This is why it has become a routine bakery that I naturally visit when I come to Gangneung.

‘ManDong Bakery’ is a place that becomes more attractive the more you revisit it.
Signature items like the Garlic Baguette are always impressive, and trying new menu items always brings new joy.
