Family Trip to Singapore: A Memorable Experience

Traveling abroad within a 4-hour distance is possible from Daegu and Busan. However, to utilize the business mileage saved for my 10th wedding anniversary with my wife, a visit to Incheon was essential.
Not wanting to leave our son behind for just the two of us to go to Hawaii, we decided to change our plans to a family trip to Singapore.
To ease our fatigue on our Singapore trip after 9 years, we decided to use the Incheon Airport Terminal 1 lounge.
We prepared a free lounge card that allows four of us, including my mother-in-law, to use the lounge at Incheon Airport Terminal 1.
The Shinhan Air 1.5 card, which I was using to accumulate mileage, allowed free access to both the Sky Hub Lounge and the Martina Lounge. The Jade Classic card permits entry for up to three people, making it the perfect combination for our family of four.
Choosing between the lounges at Incheon Airport Terminal 1 was a bit challenging. I initially selected the Martina Lounge, which is closer to the boarding gates, but I forgot that the Shinhan Air 1.5 card couldn't be used there. In a hurry, we headed to the Sky Hub Lounge.
The Lounge app indicates its location near Gate 25, and you can easily find it by taking the elevator or escalator up from there.
The Sky Hub Lounge is located on the 4th floor above the duty-free shops near Gate 25 in Terminal 1.
To get there easily, look for the K-Culture Zone or the elevators and escalators opposite the Shilla Duty-Free LOEWE and Omega stores.
If you're confused, you can check the Incheon Airport website for a map and directions.
The lounge operates from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with the last entry at 9:30 PM and a usage time limit of 3 hours. The Sky Hub Lounge I used is located in the eastern part of Terminal 1.
There is also a nap zone opposite the entrance, where you can rest further after your 3-hour lounge time.
The usage fee is USD 45 for adults and USD 19 for children (ages 3 to under 10). Children under 36 months are free. On-site purchases cost 65,000 KRW for adults, but I recommend using free access, card discounts, or online purchases instead.
Inside the lounge, there are private one-person sofas by the window and various tables accommodating 2 to 6 people. The refresh zone with massage chairs was always full, so I couldn't use it.
The business center provides real-time flight status on monitors for comfortable waiting, along with PCs and printers for urgent tasks.
For lunch, instead of a restaurant, we planned to eat at the Sky Hub Lounge. Although some reviews mentioned that the variety and quality of food were lacking compared to Martina, I found it sufficient for a light meal and a drink.
There were kid-friendly options like fried snacks, tteokbokki, and spicy fish cakes, which were sweet but decent. The cold food section had a variety of salads and fruits, and my mother-in-law was satisfied with the bibimbap ingredients.
The selection of salads, yogurt, jams, and butter was superior to the SATS lounge at Incheon Airport.
The bakery and desserts had a good variety, and the bread could be freshly baked like in a hotel.
Overall, it was on par with a typical 4-star hotel breakfast buffet. Considering the discounted price and the free card, I was very satisfied!
The reason Sky Hub is more popular than Martina among the lounges at Incheon Airport is its liquor bar lineup, featuring premium drinks like Ilpum Jinro, Evan Williams, vodka, red and white wine.
There were four types of ramen available, which my son loved. If I had flown business class, I would have eaten on the plane, but I settled my cravings with a Shin Ramyeon before departure.
After a light pumpkin soup, I replenished my energy with salad and a refreshing draft beer.
While waiting for boarding time, I enjoyed a cup of coffee made from 100% Arabica beans from Ediya Coffee.
After finishing my meal, I moved to a private one-person table that became available and wrote this post while enjoying my coffee.
The travel time from Gwangju to Incheon is 4 hours, and from there to Singapore is 6 hours, making the Sky Hub Lounge a great choice that satisfied the whole family.
