Direct Wedding Preparation Guide

This post introduces direct wedding preparation and provides points for receiving wedding props (such as bouquets and traditional gifts).
While preparing for the wedding, I am organizing the schedule, information I've learned, and a to-do list.
I've also noted things I wish I had done earlier.
1 year and 1 month before:
Meet with both sets of parents.
Set a date to visit and greet each set of parents.
Reserve a restaurant.
Prepare outfits for the greetings.
Order gifts (fruit sets).
During dates:
Tip: Take lots of photos and videos with a tripod or snap shots.
We often only took selfies, which made it a bit disappointing when creating the pre-wedding video.
1 year before:
Contract with the wedding hall.
Make a reservation for a consultation with the wedding hall.
Calculate an approximate number of guests.
* This is necessary for calculating meal costs and searching for wedding halls.
* The more guests, the more discounts on meal costs.
Research important points to check when signing the wedding hall contract.
Popular time slots (11:00, 12:00) recommend starting consultations 1.5 years in advance.
1 year before:
Look for planner companies.
Compare planner companies.
Direct: Cost-effective packages available around 2 million won.
Planner accompaniment or non-accompaniment options available.
Very Good Wedding: Minimum 4 to 4.5 million won.
Consult with a planner, as there are usually benefits for same-day contracts.
Join the direct wedding preparation cafe.
After joining, a planner will call you within 1-2 days and help schedule a visit to the expo.
* When joining the Naver cafe, enter the referral code zzrecord.
* Both the bride and groom can join, but only the first person to join can enter the referral code to receive 30,000 points.
Before visiting the direct wedding preparation expo:
Decide on a rough budget for photography, makeup, and dress.
Choose your preferred styles by looking at portfolios from various vendors.
At the cafe, you can view photos from different wedding dress, makeup, and studio companies.
Share your desired styles, and the planner will provide estimates or recommend similar options.
Before the expo, I was unsure about what to do for wedding preparations, but after a consultation, I felt more organized. I recommend at least one consultation!
On the day of the direct wedding preparation expo:
The planner adjusted the estimates to fit my budget, and I signed the contract on the same day.
Deposit: 300,000 won.
It's recommended to be active in the cafe starting from the contract date.
Post photos from the expo (10 or more) and videos (1-2) for points.
For a great review, include at least 3 photos and a video for additional points.
* You receive 5,000 points for each vendor consultation, but they tend to push for same-day contracts, which can feel overwhelming when you haven't compared several options yet.
You can still receive similar benefits without signing on the same day.
As you learn about other vendors during the preparation, there’s no need to rush decisions.
Tip: Direct wedding preparation in Seoul can be paid for with the Seoul Pay Gangnam Love gift certificate. It’s recommended to purchase in advance for payment.
7 months before:
Arrange the meeting for the engagement ceremony.
Decide on the number of attendees and seating arrangements.
Wedding ring consultation in Jongno.
* Production time: 3 weeks to 1 month.
* Since you wear the rings during the studio shoot, order them 1-2 months in advance.
Receive the wedding rings.
6 months before:
Studio photography.
Tip: Refer to detailed studio reviews and take lots of photos.
When sharing reviews, include at least 3 photos per post.
Order invitations from Dear Dear and Bojagi Card.
Choose a free benefit such as a pre-wedding video coupon when ordering.
Check the venue address and subway exit number carefully.
Post an invitation review and apply for sealing stickers.
Reserve the bouquet with Flower Story (opens for reservations 6 months in advance).
Deposit: 50,000 won.
Prepare for the honeymoon:
Book flights and accommodations.
5 months before:
Editing:
Private editing of studio photos (Mia Design).
4 months before:
Invitation meeting:
Start planning the invitation meeting.
* Due to busy schedules, it’s better to set a date early.
* From a month before the wedding, plan to focus solely on preparations.
However, even with this plan, meetings continued until 2 weeks before the ceremony.
Dress tour:
Tour different shops as atmospheres and dresses vary, and finalize after visiting 3 places.
Tip: Refer to detailed dress reviews and take lots of photos.
Skin care for the bride:
Starting too early can lead to overspending, and starting too late leaves no time.
I wanted to do everything but should have started 3 months in advance.
Procedures like Ulthera and Rejuran require 1-2 weeks of recovery, so starting 3-4 months prior is recommended.
3 months before:
Duty-free shopping:
Order invitations and attach the wedding contract.
Join wedding mileage programs.
2 months before:
Create mobile invitations:
Select photos for the mobile invitation.
Know parents’ bank account numbers for gift money.
* Keep one account empty for gifts.
Company: Bojagi Card.
* Order invitations to get mobile invitations for free.
1 month before:
Consult about the bouquet:
Bring dress photos, preferred bouquet designs, budget, and makeup shop timing.
Company: Flower Story.
* Bouquet consultations are only available on Mondays and Tuesdays.
* Prices: Silver Bells 400,000 won, Kim Yuna bouquet (Pure Blondie) 170,000-200,000 won.
Shipping fee: 10,000 won.
Bridal shower:
Fitting for the main dress.
Purchase a second dress from Kenneth Lane.
Buy a second veil from Carrot or AliExpress.
Purchase wedding shoes:
Buy shoe corsages from Carrot.
Order the pre-wedding video with Bojagi Card’s free benefit.
Production time: 5 days.
* I wanted to do it at Merry Anne, but the deadline had passed. Booking in advance is recommended.
On the wedding day, decide who will drive the bride and groom, and who will manage the gift table.
Share mobile invitations.
2 weeks before:
Determine the music for the ceremony.
Upload entrance and exit songs, as well as the song for the congratulatory performance.
Finalize the ceremony order.
Confirm the final number of guests with the wedding hall.
Organize the flow for the wedding day:
Leave home, arrive at the hair and makeup shop, leave the shop, arrive at the wedding hall, and start the ceremony.
* Also consider family flow.
Prepare the marriage declaration document:
Print it out (to be submitted to the wedding hall).
Prepare the marriage vows:
Print it out (to be submitted to the wedding hall).
Prepare the gift table instructions:
Print out the second copy.
Wedding day essentials:
Stop dermatological treatments:
Even if you feel fine, your condition may change before the ceremony, leading to swelling or bruising.
It’s better to avoid treatments 1 month to 2 weeks before the wedding to prevent unnecessary stress from skin issues.
1 week before:
Practice the wedding march:
Rehearse the entrance for the groom and bride according to the music and practice the exit and greetings together.
