On the day we moved to Ubud, we experienced the most perfect relaxation at Tejaprana Bisma.

After checking out from the Menjangan Dynasty Resort, we headed to Ubud. We had a simple breakfast, took a last stroll around our previous accommodation, and packed our bags for checkout. While Menjangan was a place for complete relaxation, Ubud definitely offered a more dynamic experience.

Looking at my Google Maps, it seems I marked many places to visit in Ubud. Midori made sure to pinpoint all the must-visit spots.

Gali, who brought us, came to pick us up again. I felt a bit guilty as I realized it must have been boring for him to drive alone. The journey took a while, but I enjoyed the scenery outside as we traveled.

The landscape slowly changed as we drove. We started on a coastal road and then moved inland. The ocean view faded, replaced by deeper greens. The road twisted and turned, climbing uphill, becoming more complex with jungle views and more people around. Ah, we were getting closer to Ubud. I felt a bit car sick and dozed off while enjoying the sights.

The location of our accommodation was excellent, not far from the center of Ubud and right next to the Monkey Forest. Occasionally, monkeys would come down close to our place. Seeing one pass by on the roof confirmed that we were indeed in Bali, particularly in Ubud. It was a bit nerve-wracking but also part of the local charm.

Despite my eagerness to see monkeys, they didn't appear when I wanted to see them. I spotted one up close once and saw it chase a dog from a distance, but that was all.

Our accommodation in Ubud was Tejaprana Bisma. The moment I entered the lobby, I felt that I had made the right choice booking a three-night stay.

Tejaprana Bisma features Balinese architecture that harmonizes beautifully with nature. It feels like the resort has seamlessly blended into the jungle rather than being an artificially designed space. The use of wood and stone creates a comfortable ambiance, making me think that I didn’t need to do anything here.

When the accommodation is this nice, the desire to go out diminishes. That was particularly true for this Ubud trip. We stayed in a villa type room, feeling as if we were truly in nature. The pool was shallow but surprisingly deep enough for lounging comfortably.

The interior of the accommodation was spacious and well-separated. The bed was just right, not too soft, and the warm-toned lighting created a relaxing atmosphere.

Feeling comfortable and at ease in a travel accommodation is essential. Even though I usually fall asleep easily, it still matters.

After unpacking, I set up my tablet for some light work. The space for unpacking was the most spacious I’ve encountered among the accommodations I've stayed in. The shower and toilet were separate, and the powder room was quite large.

There was a relaxing area by the pool with a large bathtub that could comfortably fit two people. Since it rains often, the cushions from the sunbeds were placed on the bathtub to dry.

One of the highlights of this accommodation is the unlimited breakfast. Just asking if we could order more allowed us to enjoy a delightful breakfast experience.

We ordered Indonesian staples like Nasi Goreng and Mie Goreng, along with other dishes, savoring each bite at a leisurely pace. The breakfast choices were extensive and never got boring over the days.

In Ubud, I also indulged in several massages, both inside and outside the resort. The flow of the day naturally included walking, eating, and getting massages without any strict plans.

The main infinity pool offered stunning jungle views, making it feel like we were surrounded by a living jungle. The sounds of nature were ever-present, and whether in the water or lounging on a sunbed, my gaze was always drawn to the outside.

In retrospect, my time spent at the accommodation became more significant than exploring Ubud itself. Although Ubud is known for its spiritual experiences, yoga, and beautiful landscapes, I found that the commercialized shops and souvenir stores overshadowed those aspects during my visit.

Ultimately, the serene time spent at the accommodation left the most lasting impression of Ubud for me.

Next, I’ll share more details about my Ubud trip in another post.
