A Memorable Day in Apgujeong

On that day, I had an appointment in Apgujeong, but I hadn't decided what to eat. As I walked along Dosan-daero, I suddenly craved some Chinese food. So, I thought I'd just go wherever my feet took me and ended up at Mirchay9. Days like this tend to stick in my memory.
I arrived a little earlier than the appointment.
We were supposed to meet near Apgujeong Rodeo, and I came out a bit early. The weather was uncomfortably warm, so I considered hiding in a café, but then I changed my mind and decided to eat first and wait. While waiting to cross the street, I searched for restaurants on Dosan-daero but didn't compare them too thoroughly. I just thought to enter a place that had a nice atmosphere, and naturally, I stopped at this spot.
The process of getting seated felt surprisingly realistic.
There were a few people standing at the entrance, so I waited with them. A staff member mentioned it would take a few minutes, but their tone wasn't rushed or dry, which made me feel at ease. As I sat down and took a sip of water, I realized I was actually quite hungry. Entering a new Chinese restaurant in Apgujeong can be a bit nerve-wracking, but this place felt less intimidating.
I kept the order simple.
Instead of staring at the menu for too long, I chose something I wanted to eat right away. There are days when I prefer familiar dishes over trying something new. While waiting for the food, I checked my phone a few times to coordinate with my friend and briefly watched the people by the window. Sometimes, dining in a Gangnam restaurant can feel overwhelming, but that day felt light and pleasant.
There was a moment when our conversation paused.
When my friend arrived, we chatted for a bit, but there was a moment when both of us suddenly fell silent. It wasn’t because the food was particularly delicious; rather, it was just that we both got focused on eating at the same time. The sounds of plates clinking and conversations from the neighboring table mixed together, creating an oddly ordinary dinner atmosphere. Although I expected a fancy dining experience at a restaurant in Apgujeong, it turned out to be just a simple meal, which I appreciated more.
On my way out, I took a moment to look around again.
After finishing our meal, I felt surprisingly full and thought I could walk. When I was paying, the staff member asked me to let them know if I needed anything, and I liked that level of distance. Stepping outside, I found the streets bustling with people and cars, returning to the vibe of Gangnam's restaurant district. Sometimes I wander around looking for good restaurants in Apgujeong, but today felt like a successful day without any plans.
It was a spontaneous decision to stop for Chinese food on my way home, and the flow felt surprisingly natural, making it memorable. There wasn't anything particularly special happening, but sometimes, a meal can wrap up a day spent in Apgujeong. If I find myself in a similar situation next time, I might just drop in again.
