Discover the Ancient State of Apdokguk

Gyeongsan was once the heart of Apdokguk, and the museum does a brilliant job of bringing this lost kingdom to life. Visitors can explore life-sized models of ancient tombs from the Yangji-ri site, offering a vivid glimpse into the burial customs of the era. One of the museum's most significant historical highlights is the display of wooden armor found in local wetlands. This site marked the first discovery in Korea of the wooden base used to manufacture iron armor, underscoring Gyeongsan's strategic importance during the transition to the Silla era.

Meeting the Three Great Sages

As you enter the museum grounds, you’ll be greeted by statues of Gyeongsan’s three most famous historical figures: Wonhyo, Ilyeon, and Seolchong. These sages represent the spiritual and intellectual legacy of the region, providing a perfect starting point for a conversation with children about Korea's rich cultural and religious history.

Hands-on Fun: The Children's Experience Room

To keep younger visitors engaged, the museum features a specialized Children's Experience Room on the first floor. Practical Tips for Your Visit

The Gyeongsan Municipal Museum is open from 09:00 AM to 06:00 PM, though the Children's Experience Room closes slightly earlier at 05:00 PM. Admission and parking are both free, making it an incredibly accessible choice for a day trip. Please note that the museum is closed every Monday, as well as on January 1st and major lunar holidays.
