Thrilling Adventures and Serene Views at Tapjeongho Suspension Bridge

Experience the thrill and tranquility simultaneously
Located at 155 Jongyeon-ri, Gayagok-myeon, Nonsan, Chungcheongnam-do, the Tapjeongho Suspension Bridge offers a unique opportunity to unwind while enjoying stunning views. As the cold winds signal the onset of winter, many seek to escape the stress of daily life. Tapjeongho, the second-largest lake in Chungcheongnam-do, provides a perfect setting for this.
Originally constructed as an agricultural reservoir, Tapjeongho has transformed into a landmark of Nonsan, featuring a 600-meter-long suspension bridge that allows visitors to walk above its vast waters. I visited this beautiful location during late autumn, where the serene atmosphere was captivating.
Whether entering from the north or south gate, the bridge offers unique charms from either direction. After parking, a walk along the waterfront deck leads to the impressive sight of the suspension bridge spanning the lake. While it appears calm from a distance, stepping onto the bridge reveals its gentle swaying motion, adding to the thrill of the experience.
Sections of the bridge feature transparent flooring, enhancing the excitement as you gaze down at the rippling blue waves beneath your feet. The 'Sky Garden' located at the center of the bridge is the perfect spot to pause and take in the breathtaking views of Tapjeongho, where sunlight sparkles on the water's surface, providing a sense of peace.
If you visit around sunset, you may discover another charm of Tapjeongho. However, during winter, the operating hours are reduced for safety, so checking the schedule before your visit is advisable. Another attraction at Tapjeongho is the musical fountain, which boasts impressive dimensions of 150 meters in length and 120 meters in height, making it the largest fountain installed in a lake or reservoir in Korea. Unfortunately, during my visit, it was not operating.
The Tapjeongho Suspension Bridge is ideal for leisurely walks with family or loved ones, or for solitary reflection. This weekend, why not take a break from your routine and create special memories while walking over the lake?
