Spring Walking Trails in Yecheon, South Korea

“Spring, spring, spring~ Spring has come~♬” It’s a beautiful spring.
Thanks to the lovely weather, it's a great time to walk anywhere,
so today, I've gathered some of the best walking paths in Yecheon, Gyeongbuk.
These three walking trails are perfect for a leisurely stroll without going far.
All are located in Yecheon-eup, making them ideal for a day trip.
1. Namsan Sports Park
This park is filled with lush green trees and offers beautiful forest paths.
Namsan Sports Park is larger than you might expect.
Near the entrance stairs leading into the park is the artificial waterfall, Namsan Falls.
The sound of water cascading down is refreshing just to listen to.
There are also long, pleasant walking trails, charming pavilions, stone turtles, and a mini arboretum within the park.
Especially around late April to early May, the trails are adorned with blooming flowers.
Rhododendrons, azaleas, and various vibrant flowers create a stunning floral display throughout the park.
It truly becomes one of the most beautiful parks during this season.
Beyond the lovely flowers, you can see the serene Hancheon stream flowing gently below, and the sound of birds chirping from the trees adds to the ambiance.
Walking through this fresh, flower-filled forest path is a healing experience in itself.
2. Dalgrime Healing Forest Path
In Yecheon-eup, there is a low mountain, Heuk Eung Mountain, about 200 meters high.
The Dalgrime Healing Forest Path leads along this mountain, perfect for a slow and leisurely stroll.
There’s a sign indicating the Dalgrime Healing Forest Path, which is illuminated by LED lights at night, allowing for evening walks.
The cute moon-shaped sculpture serves as a photo spot bench, making it great for capturing beautiful memories.
Following the steps through the flowers, you’ll soon reach an observation deck.
From there, you can see the distant Hakgasan Mountain and the charming village below, with its colorful rooftops and murals.
Since Heuk Eung Mountain is not very high and the trails are well-maintained, you can easily reach the summit at a relaxed pace.
At the top, there is a pavilion named Cheongharu, which means "Clear River Pavilion," commemorating Yecheon's reputation for clear waters.
From this pavilion, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Yecheon-eup.
Nearby, there’s also a monument honoring poet Ahn Do-hyun, a native of Yecheon, commemorating the establishment of the provincial office.
The Dalgrime Healing Forest Path offers encounters with dense forests, breathtaking views, and the pavilion at the summit.
3. Old Railway Trail
Yecheon has a former railway site that has been transformed into a walking path, known as the Old Railway Park.
Though not very large, it features walking paths, small gardens, foot massage paths, fountains, exercise equipment, and benches, making it a pleasant spot for walking and resting.
The remnants of the old railway tracks are still visible here, and beneath the old railway sign, there are photos capturing the past, giving a glimpse into its history.
As you stroll along the path, you’ll soon encounter a foot bath area.
This spot allows you to dip your feet in the water and take a moment to relax.
The Old Railway Trail is perfect for barefoot walking, strolling, and enjoying a foot bath.
These leisurely walking paths in Yecheon-eup are perfect for a casual stroll.
All three trails are great for a light and easy walk whenever you feel like exploring.
I hope you take a walk along these paths while enjoying the delightful spring breeze.
