First Impressions of Uya Jae
Today's review is about Uya Jae,
a place I visited in the fall.
This spot offers a rooftop view of Namsan Tower,
where you can enjoy a drink.
While it's known for its stunning view,
the quality of the food is excellent,
making it one of those places I often think about.
Location & Basic Information
Located near Yaksu Station in Sindang-dong,
Uya Jae
is on the 7th floor of 101-4 Dasan-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul.
Open daily from 5 PM to midnight.
Parking is available in the building or nearby.
How to Find Uya Jae
Finding the place was a bit tricky as there’s no sign.
If you exit through gate 8 of Yaksu Station,
you'll see a bakery right in front.
Go down the stairs to the left,
and you'll find Uya Jae on the 7th floor of the building on the right.
Terrace Seating & Atmosphere
Thanks to my friend who made a reservation for the terrace,
we could enter without waiting.
Note that terrace seating is limited to 2 hours and 30 minutes on weekends.
When I visited in October,
the weather was perfect for enjoying the terrace.
The view is truly breathtaking.
You can watch the sunset,
and the changing colors of Namsan Tower enhance the drinking experience.
Menu & Drink Selection
Uya Jae has a variety of unique menu items,
along with a wide selection of drinks.
Here’s what we ordered:
Sweet shrimp: 45,000 KRW
Whole shrimp rose tteokbokki: 18,000 KRW
Duraeang: 18,000 KRW
Drink Recommendation: Duraeang
With so many drink options,
I asked the staff for recommendations.
We ordered Duraeang, a distilled liquor made from grapes,
which was perfect on the rocks.
The sweetness was balanced,
making it a great pairing with our food.
Food Highlights
The sweet shrimp dish featured fresh shrimp with sea urchin,
avocado, and seasoned rice,
and it was delicious both on its own and wrapped in seaweed.
Every ingredient was fresh,
and there was no fishy taste.
The whole shrimp rose tteokbokki was incredible—
as soon as I took a bite, I exclaimed, "Wow! This is amazing!"
It was the perfect dish for drinking,
especially as it cooled down, the savory flavor stood out.
Ending the Night
As time passed, the atmosphere became even more charming.
I was a bit sad that the terrace seating was time-restricted,
and we ended up rushing to finish our drinks.
After our meal, I noticed the thoughtful touches in the elevator area,
like fabric deodorizer, hand sanitizer, and hand cream.
While the view alone was satisfying,
the quality of the food made Uya Jae memorable.
I hope to visit again in a different season.
