A space that encapsulates the history and future of Pohang:

Pohang New Millennium Memorial Hall

If you're seeking a relaxing trip gifted by the sea, how about Homigot in Pohang?

I'm starting my review after personally visiting the New Millennium Memorial Hall (Homigot, Pohang), which has been standing across from Homigot for a long time.

1. Basic Information

The New Millennium Memorial Hall is located in Homigot and is a cultural exhibition space where you can see sea fossils and stones.

The memorial hall consists of exhibition rooms, a Sea Fossil Museum, a Korean Stone Art Pohang Museum, and an audiovisual room. It showcases the geography, history, culture, industry, and future vision of Homigot and the Pohang area through panels and dioramas.

Opening hours are from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and it is closed every Monday.

2. How to Get There

It takes about 40 minutes by car from Pohang Station and Pohang Terminal.

It is closer to Guryongpo than downtown Pohang, so it is recommended to include it in your Guryongpo travel itinerary.

Parking is available near the New Millennium Memorial Hall, including accessible parking.

3. Admission Fee & What to See

Admission Fees:

Adults: 3,000 KRW

Youth & Soldiers: 1,000 KRW

Children: 500 KRW

4. Atmosphere

Recommended viewing spaces include the first-floor exhibition hall (origins and culture of Pohang and Homigot), the second-floor Sea Fossil Museum (marine life fossils), and the third-floor Stone Art Museum and rooftop observatory. (Photography is not allowed in the second-floor Sea Fossil Museum.)

Thanks to the building's proximity to the refreshing sea, your eyes naturally gaze upon the ocean whenever you move inside the building.

In the internal exhibition space of the New Millennium Memorial Hall, you can view the history of Homigot and Pohang from the past to the present through photos and explanations.

You can also see the legend of Yeon-o Rang and Seo-nyeo, which is an essential part of Pohang's history.

The third-floor space, where mysterious stones are exhibited, is a place that stimulates the imagination, where you can see Buddhas, moons, and flowers in the stones.

The New Millennium Memorial Hall also has unique badges in addition to the stones, so I also spent time looking at the cute retro badges.

The New Millennium Memorial Hall, where you can feel the excitement of the sunrise and the history of Pohang!

It was a place where you could see 'the story of Pohang' rather than 'a trip to see the sea'.

I hope this article has been helpful for your trip to Pohang.

Thank you.
