Photo Exhibition Highlights in Ulsan

Hello, this is Kim Soon-jump from Ulsan Nuri.
For the first article of February, I would like to share our efforts over the past year.
As a result of our hard work, we are holding a photo exhibition.
First, let me inform you about the location of the exhibition.
It can be a bit difficult to find, and public transportation access is limited.
However, those who have visited consistently say, "The café is visually pleasing and the air is delightful. The tranquil atmosphere makes it a place you'd want to visit alone."
The café's unique feature is a large car parked on the roof.
Under that car, at the Yeoyebi Gallery, we are showcasing the works of photography graduates.
Upon entering the parking lot at Kalista, you will find various artistic installations that reflect the owner's personality.
The growing trees and plants are beautiful, but the well-tended pond, small waterfall, and unique rock formations also catch your eye and make you stop in your tracks.
One of Kalista's highlights is the wood-burning stove.
Watching the warmth of the red flowers radiate throughout the café naturally draws you in.
Even though I’m bundled up, I find myself moving closer to the stove.
There’s also a warm ondol floor and a swing-style bench with lace curtains, which children love.
I enjoy sipping jujube tea or yuzu tea here. The taste is great, and the portion is generous. ^^
Kim In-ok / Exhibition Title: The Gaze That Remains
The first exhibition was held by artist Kim In-ok.
She has had a long-standing interest in photography and, by chance, met her current teacher, leading her to this exhibition.
Though she is older than me, I’ve heard she excels in video editing and Photoshop.
This made me realize I need to step up my game.
I stood for a while in front of the sunset at Suldol.
It felt as if the orange sunset was being sprinkled right before my eyes.
Whether it's nature or objects, art emerges in the moment of observation by the viewer.
Kim Soon-jump / Exhibition Title: Scenes That Remain Like Breath
Last year, I went to the labor department to receive unemployment benefits, and I found a catalog at their stand.
Since I was also interested in photography, I decided to apply.
As for my teacher, she provides tailored education to ten tadpoles born each month.
Each month-old tadpole receives different training, and the practical lessons were particularly beneficial.
Thanks to that, I believe my skills have significantly improved.
While I have been taking photos around various places in Ulsan, the theme of the exhibition focuses on Buk-gu, Ulsan.
There’s a pair of ghost whales in front of Jeongja and a lantern scene from Sinheungsa.
The red photo is from Songjeong, with the airport on the left and the mountains of Sunkum and Cheonma in the sunset.
Kim Sun-mi / Exhibition Title: Water Droplets
In a group setting, some individuals definitely stand out.
I thought I was working hard, but while I was just thinking about it, artist Kim Sun-mi was diligently practicing and making remarkable progress.
Her main focus is on water droplets, where she captures dandelion seeds and drops colored water onto them to create intricate hues.
Artist Lim Mi-sook will be featured in February.
If you're curious about the café, please stop by.
And don’t forget to check out the photos of the adult learners.
Exhibition Title: Time Stays
Location: Kalista Yeoyebi Gallery
Duration: February 10 to 23
Hours: 11 AM to 5 PM
Closed: Mondays
Next, an exhibition by artist Jin Young-ja is in preparation.
Exhibition Title: Like a Withering Flower
Duration: March 3 to March 9
I’ve heard that artist Jin Young-ja enjoys taking documentary-style photos.
I haven’t seen her photos yet, but I suspect she captures the beauty that is fading in the redevelopment areas of Jung-gu.
If you’re curious about the adult learners' photos or would like to see Kalista Café, feel free to come by any day except Monday.
And please leave a note in the guestbook.
“The passion of adult learners blooms like flowers.”
With renewed energy, the adult learners are striving for excellence.
Thank you.
