My husband and I recently enjoyed a unique date in Gyeongju with a cocktail-making one-day class. It was more fun and informative than we expected, so I wanted to share our experience at Natae Cafe!
Natae is located on the 2nd floor of the Gyerim Laundry building, right in front of Korea National Open University.
If you see a yellow door with a large red ribbon, you've found Natae, a cafe I highly recommend for a date in Gyeongju!
Parking is not available at the cafe. I recommend parking in nearby alleys or public parking lots.
Natae is a daytime bar that operates alongside the independent bookstore 'Gakdo'.
It's a space where you can enjoy books and cocktails together.
Be sure to read the usage guidelines before entering.
Stepping inside, you'll find a cozy and comfortable atmosphere. It almost makes you wonder if you're actually in a cocktail bar! If there was a place like this in Ulsan, I would visit often to read books!

Books with a viewing sticker are available for reading, while those without are for sale. Please keep this in mind.
Although the interior is small and cozy, the owner has made great use of the space. If we had more time, I would have loved to relax with my husband, enjoying a cocktail and reading a book.
They also offer non-alcoholic options, making it a great place to visit without any pressure.
My husband and I signed up for the cocktail-making one-day class, which was held in a small group.
✅ The class takes about 30-40 minutes.
The owner explained the various types of liquors used in cocktails, such as whiskey, vodka, rum, liqueurs, gin, and tequila. It was fun to smell them and learn about their unique characteristics. The owner explained everything in an easy-to-understand way, but I can't believe I already forgot some things! Sorry, Mr. Owner!

Since we had to drive, we sampled a whiskey-flavored syrup, and it tasted exactly like whiskey!
Before taking the cocktail one-day class, I thought any pretty glass could be used for cocktails. However, I learned that each cocktail glass has a specific purpose.
Now that we've learned the basics about cocktails, it's time to make our own!✌

My husband chose a Moscow Mule mug made of copper, which helps to keep the drink cold for longer.
Natae's cocktail one-day class allows you to make over 900 different drinks using more than 30 types of ingredients.
Fill the glass with ice.

Squeeze the juice from half a lime.

Add about 1.5 ounces of vodka.

When adding a carbonated drink, pour it slowly along the side of the glass, as shown in the picture.

Finally, garnish with lime and cinnamon to complete your own cocktail!

My husband seemed to enjoy making it so much! He said that learning something new is always interesting and fun, and he really enjoyed the one-day class.

When I mentioned that we couldn't drink it because we had to drive, the owner was happy to pack it to-go. He even thoughtfully packed it without ice! Thank you, Mr. Owner!

If you're looking for travel or date ideas in Gyeongju, I highly recommend trying the unique cocktail-making one-day class! The owner is so friendly and fun that we lost track of time chatting with him.😊
