Finally Trying the Dubai Chewy Cookies

Have you ever tried the chewy cookies that have taken the world by storm? If not, you're not alone!
๐ช Dubai Cookie Showdown: Hatz vs. Choco Mellow
- The Winner - Hatz Bakery: A perfect 5/5 stars! Highly recommended for its rich pistachio spread, crunchy kadaifi, and marshmallow filling that stays perfectly stretchy even without heating.
- The Disappointment - Choco Mellow: Despite the long lines, the cookies were underwhelmingโhard texture, lack of distinct pistachio flavor, and a recent price hike that didn't match the quality.
- Smart Shopping Tip: Don't let long queues fool you! At Lotte Incheon, head straight to Hatz Bakery (max 3 per person) for the authentic, crunchy, and chewy Dubai cookie experience.
That's right, it's me!
It seems like everyone in the world has tasted the chewy cookies from Dubai, and I finally gave in to the hype and tried them myself.
Hereโs my review after purchasing them from Lotte Department Store in Incheon.
Hatz Bakery at Lotte Department Store
First up is Hatz Bakery, where you can buy a maximum of three cookies per person.
Hatz Bakery is famous for its red bean bread and chewy bread in Seongsu, and I was delighted to find them at the Incheon Lotte Department Store!
I visited on a Friday around noon, and there was no waiting line.
Right next to the checkout counter, I found the chewy cookies I had been searching for!
They were priced at 5,600 won each, and since I wasn't sure if I'd like them, I only bought two.
Once I got home and tasted them, I was blown away!
Look at that cross-section!

It was packed with pistachio spread and had a nice crunch from the larger pieces of kadaifi.
I give it a perfect score of 5 out of 5 stars!
Even though it was my first time trying the Dubai chewy cookie, I understood why everyone raves about them.
They were incredibly delicious!
What impressed me the most was that the marshmallow filling stretched beautifully without even needing to be microwaved.
Those who prefer a smoother spread might not enjoy it as much, but if you like a chewy texture, I highly recommend it!
Trying Choco Mellow
Next, I tried Choco Mellow, where there was no purchase limit.
I decided to join the long line I saw while walking back from Hatz Bakery.
Choco Mellow was a new name to me, and I couldnโt find any store locations online, so I bought some to compare.
I waited about 20 minutes, which was a bit annoying since I dislike standing in lines.
When I got there, the 9-piece pack was sold out, but they were constantly restocking the other items.
The large one on the top row was the Kaimak Chewy Cookie (9,900 won each), the second row had the Dubai Gimbap (39,900 won for 4 rolls), and the bottom row had the regular chewy cookies (12,900 won for 4).
They were smaller than the average Dubai chewy cookies I had seen online.
Interestingly, I found out that until December 31, they were selling for 11,900 won for 4, but raised the price to 12,900 won starting January 1.
It was a bit disappointing.

Tasting Choco Mellow Cookies
When I tried them at a nearby cafรฉ, they were quite hard, possibly because they hadnโt thawed properly.
There was no distinct flavor from the spread, just a chewy texture from the kadaifi.
It was hard to believe there were pistachios in it, and the taste was reminiscent of a Twix bar.
The marshmallow was too hard, so I only had one and decided to microwave the rest when I got home.
I accidentally overcooked it, and it turned into a chewy cookie from hell!
Even after heating, it remained hard, so I have to declare it a fake chewy cookie.
Donโt get swayed by long lines like I did; make sure to check reviews before you buy!
Final Thoughts
As for Lotte Department Store in Incheon, I definitely recommend Hatz Bakery!
Stay tuned for more chewy cookie spots I found in Songdo!
