Hapgangjeong Pavilion, nestled on one side of Yonghwa Mountain, stands gracefully alongside the Nakdong River. This scenic spot, part of Haman's Nine Views, is a place where history flows together with the breathtaking scenery of the Nakdong River.

As you ascend the mountain road, wide enough for a car and a bicycle, you'll encounter a monument. This marks a fork in the road; taking the lower path to the left will lead you to Hapgangjeong Pavilion.

Address: 469, Guam-ro, Daesan-myeon, Haman-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do

Though initially obscured by lush greenery and trees, descending reveals a clearing and a wide-open space.

This hidden gem boasts a remarkable 400-year-old Ginkgo tree at its entrance. In November, its leaves transform into a vibrant yellow, creating a stunning spectacle that I highly recommend experiencing.

Hapgangjeong Pavilion, as its name suggests, is situated where the Nam River and Nakdong River converge. It's said that a person who served as Gongneung Champong and Daegun Sabu built it. The pavilion is open, inviting visitors to explore its interior.

The pavilion features a traditional paljak roof and is positioned with the mountain at its back and the river in front.

Despite initial concerns about the route, the visit proved worthwhile. Sitting on the wooden floor and taking in the surroundings was a delightful experience, filled with charm.

Its open structure provides unobstructed views from the front and sides. The river scenery framed by the rectangular entrance is truly captivating.

The pavilion seems perfect for enjoying refreshments while appreciating the scenery. It inspired a desire to experience a day in the life of a scholar.

I recommend visiting during sunrise. The mist rising over the water, combined with the pavilion's unique ambiance, creates a traditional yet beautiful scene.

Also, as mentioned earlier, visiting when the Ginkgo tree's leaves are turning is highly recommended. Taking photos beneath the tree will undoubtedly result in stunning images.

A trekking course connects Neunggasa Temple, Bangujeong Pavilion, and Hapgangjeong Pavilion. This course, offering refreshing river breezes and lush forest scenery, is considered the most beautiful section of the Nakdong River's 700-ri (approximately 275km).

Hidden away, Hapgangjeong Pavilion offers a unique charm that deserves to be experienced. It's not just a pavilion built during the Joseon Dynasty but a place to discover nature, leisure, and contemplation.

The journey to Haman Hapgangjeong Pavilion may not be the easiest, so exercise caution while driving and wear comfortable shoes.
