Gyeongju Yongdamjeong: A Hidden Gem for an Autumn Walk

Discover Gyeongju Yongdamjeong, a perfect destination for a refreshing autumn walk.
Located in Gyeongju, the ancient capital of the Silla Dynasty, Yongdamjeong is a relatively unknown hidden gem. It is also the birthplace of Donghak, founded by Su-un Choe Je-u.
Operating Hours:
Summer: 08:00 - 18:00
Winter: 08:00 - 17:00
The parking area is spacious. Passing through Podeok Gate at the entrance, you'll see a statue of Choe Je-u.
Walking along the straight path, you can hear birds singing and water flowing, and enjoy the beautiful autumn scenery.
On the way up, you'll see a sign requesting silence for those in training.
Podeokgwan and Jinseonggwan, the origin of Yongdamsuwon, are located on the way up.
As you ascend towards Yongdamjeong, you'll encounter Seonghwa Gate.
After passing through Seonghwa Gate, you'll find palm mats laid out below.
Although the hillside is slightly steep, walking on the mats makes the ascent comfortable.
Take your time to appreciate the peaceful atmosphere and the autumn scenery.
The Yongdamjeong walking path is truly beautiful and offers a genuinely healing experience.
Yongdam Bridge and Yongdamjeong come into view. This spot is famous for its photo opportunities.
Crossing the bridge, you can see the stream of water falling from Yongdam Falls, creating small cascades.
The sounds of nature create a soothing background melody.
Before heading up to Yongchugak, take a moment to explore Yongdamjeong.
A sign reads, "Please close the door after visiting or viewing."
Another sign advises, "Do not sit on the wooden floor."
After a brief look inside, I closed the door and came out.
To the left, you'll find Yongchugak and the small Yongdam Falls.
As a designated national park, Yongdamjeong preserves its natural beauty.
I highly recommend this place for anyone needing a moment of healing.
