A New Beginning for Seniors in Dangjin
On November 25, a hopeful new space opened its doors in Dangjin. Halhal Cafe, operated by the Dangjin Senior Club, officially began full operations with a heartfelt opening ceremony.
Attending the event made it clear that this café is not simply about serving drinks, but about creating opportunities for seniors to stay active, connected, and fulfilled in their later years.
More Than a Cafe, a Community Hub
Halhal Cafe is designed as a gathering place where seniors can naturally interact with neighbors and build meaningful relationships through daily work and conversation.
The Dangjin Senior Club already operates five senior cafés, including DeMoA Cafe and Noa Cafe. With Halhal Cafe, the network expands to six locations, strengthening senior employment across the city.
Words That Reflect the Heart of Halhal Cafe
During the ceremony, Director Park Mi-ran of the Dangjin Senior Club shared words that deeply resonated with everyone present.
She explained that the greatest reward comes when seniors say that working makes them happy, and described Halhal Cafe as a healing space filled with smiles, warmth, and purpose.
Strong Support from the Local Community
Halhal Cafe operates with a free lease provided by the Chungcheongnam-do Development Corporation and was selected for a senior job integration project supported with 50 million won in funding.
This strong backing from public institutions and the local community reflects the shared commitment to senior welfare and sustainable social initiatives.
Learning, Training, and New Challenges
The seniors working at Halhal Cafe completed multiple training sessions, covering barista basics, café operations, and customer service.
In collaboration with Shinsung University’s Department of Baking and Pastry, they also received hands-on baking education, gaining confidence through real practice.
Coffee and Bread Made with Life Experience
The menu includes classic coffee options such as Americano, cafe latte, and vanilla latte, along with green tea latte, strawberry latte, and refreshing smoothies.
Freshly baked croissants, cookies, and castella made by seniors add a special depth of flavor that goes beyond taste, carrying years of experience and care.
Comfort, Sustainability, and Lasting Warmth
A warm cup of coffee served in a tumbler reflects Dangjin’s commitment to carbon neutrality while delivering comfort that feels deeply personal.
