Gijang County Unveils Its Third Nature-Friendly Playground: Wolnae Children's Park

Wolnae Children's Park has transformed into Gijang County's third nature-friendly playground.
Surrounded by tall pine trees, Wolnae Children's Park has always been a favorite spot. It was a great place to stop by after visiting nearby restaurants, and I was excited to hear about its recent reopening as a nature-friendly playground.
Upon returning to Wolnae Children's Park, I found the familiar tall pine trees still providing shade, and the exercise equipment welcomed me first. This space, created for the relaxation and health of local residents, features various exercise machines to stretch and strengthen muscles.
The playground now includes a hammock, basket swings, and a balance beam, among other attractions. However, it is currently undergoing safety inspections, which are expected to be completed by early March, after which the facilities will be open for safe use.
A resting area with benches has been set up in front of the pavilion, allowing visitors to soak up the sun, while swings provide additional seating nearby.
The playground features an Indian playhouse and a shaking play structure, promising fun for children. The nature-friendly equipment made from natural materials like soil and wood allows kids to connect with nature more closely. I hope Wolnae Children's Park becomes a space filled with laughter as it reopens with these new facilities.

This newly renovated nature-friendly playground is the third of its kind in Gijang County. The first was at Sodubang Park, followed by the second at Yongsu Well-being Park.
Yongsu Well-being Park's nature-friendly playground opened in April 2025. This park, designed around a reservoir trail, is known for its beautiful scenery and is frequently visited by residents and tourists alike. The nature-friendly facilities are located inside Yongsu Well-being Park.
In addition to play equipment made from natural materials, the park features an insect observation hotel and wooden play structures for ecological experiences.
One of the standout features is the ochre ball pit and ochre play area. Walking on the ochre balls and strolling through the play area will create wonderful memories for families.
The spacious layout is perfect for children to run and play freely, making it a beloved spot.

Finally, I visited Sodubang Park, which opened its nature-friendly playground in February 2024. This playground has already gained much affection from local residents.
Sodubang Park's nature-friendly facilities include play structures suitable for children of varying ages, as well as picnic areas and a mom's café.
The nature-friendly playground consists of three single-story spaces: the Forest Learning Yard, Forest Sensory Play Yard, and Forest Adventure Play Yard, allowing for natural movement through slides and sloped play areas. The ground is covered with wood chips and grass, creating a playful environment for children.

It's always a joy to see safe and nature-friendly play spaces created for children. Gijang County's nature-friendly playgrounds allow kids to experience nature up close through play. As warm spring days approach, I expect many visitors will flock to these spaces.
