I think I've officially lost it.

Turning down a weekend trip to Gyeongju with my husband for a fabric-shopping spree at Gwangjang Market...that says it all! ;;;;

As Son Dam-bi sings:

"I'm crazy~ I'm really crazy~ ♬"

Anyway!!

So, I first stopped by Dongdaemun Shopping Complex, picked up a few essentials, and headed straight to the fabric section of Gwangjang Market.

And wow... I found a hidden gem!

Totally worth skipping the flower festival, seriously!!

I've been getting into fine hemming (깨끼박음질), and now I'm suddenly obsessed with ramie fabric. What's with this audacity?! Haha.

I wondered why I hadn't noticed Deoksu Fabrics in Gwangjang Market's fabric district before.

Probably because I wasn't interested in ramie and just walked past it. (Or maybe my skills weren't up to par~ ^^*)

But yesterday, all I could see was ramie and synthetic fibers!

LOL

Deoksu Fabrics, located at #25 on the 2nd floor of Hwachang Building in Gwangjang Market, has so many beautiful ramie fabrics.

Just browsing was a feast for the eyes!

Fabric shopping was as fun as going to see the flowers!!

I wanted to buy like, ten different types, but I kept myself in check and chose three carefully.

And the prices were amazing.

They even gave me wholesale prices as an individual customer.

I was planning to use 산탄 (santan, a type of lining fabric) for the lining, but the owner strongly advised against it, saying it would make the fabric look muddy...;;;

So, I ended up getting ramie for the lining too.

I was going to use 산탄 for the lining, finish the side seams with flat-felled seams, and hem the bottom.

But now I have to fine hem even the slip because it's made with ramie...ㅋㅋㅋ;;;

The owner quickly and expertly picked out lining colors that perfectly matched the fabrics.

He was an older gentleman, but so friendly and outgoing.

I took these pictures on the floor, so the colors look more saturated than they actually are.

The ramie fabrics are actually very delicate and subtle in color.

You can barely see the color until I put white ramie lining underneath it.

Hmm... I still think 산탄 might have been a better choice, lol.

But the ramie lining does look prettier.

That's why I ended up buying it.

환상적인 장면

This ramie fabric with the blue & red flower combination is so pretty.

He recommended a beige lining for this one.

If I were planning to make a waist skirt set, I wouldn't have bought ramie.

(How would I even make a vest and a bustier with it...ㅋㅋㅋ)

But I'm obsessed with wrap dresses these days, and I think I can make a wrap dress with ramie somehow.

I don't know~ I don't even know if I'll actually be able to make it.

Hahaha.

행복한 시간

And lastly, my beloved purple.

신비로운 모습

He recommended a lavender lining for this one.

I love all three, but I think this purple ramie is the prettiest.

놀라운 광경

Even though I'll be doing fine hemming forever and ever, I want to make them ASAP.

But my mother is coming up this week for my hospital visit, so I probably won't be able to touch the ramie fabrics from Deoksu Fabrics until next week at the earliest.

And that's only if I finalize the wrap dress pattern...;;;

I've made three wrap dresses so far.

Um...... I'm still not completely satisfied with the wrap part, so I'm constantly making small adjustments.

I can't use ramie, which requires a lot of work, as a test piece, so I'll make it with cotton or linen until I'm satisfied.

Only then will I be able to take these fabrics out.

I wonder when that will be~????

Anyway!!

If you need ramie fabric, go to Deoksu Fabrics on the 2nd floor of Gwangjang Market.

They have so many beautiful ramie fabrics.

I hope to quickly make all three of these (?????? ㅋㅋㅋ)

And go shopping again~ Ahahaha.

Deoksu Fabrics is completely unrelated to me, lol.
