I've decided to take a journey through the alleyways of Ham-an. Starting from the Ham-an County Office, I found a delightful path called 'Haenim's Embracing Road' in an area with developed commercial districts. This charming street, filled with beautiful murals, quietly captured the footsteps of travelers.
It was a lovely day with fluffy clouds drifting across the blue sky, resembling a scene from a fairy tale. Although it seemed like an ordinary alley, it felt like a living space for the people of Ham-an, imbued with the scent of life.
As I began to walk along the path, murals announcing 'Haenim's Embracing Road' started to appear one by one.
Three whales painted on a blue wall swim through the sky, impressively capturing the boundary between the sea and the sky. Walking through such places requires a touch of childlike wonder in your heart to truly enhance the joy!
The alleyway adorned with butterflies and a yellow flower-shaped sculpture gives a three-dimensional feel with its thickness. I eagerly took photos, wanting to convey a bit of that vibrancy.
A puppy peeks out between blue gates, and it was just too cute! I felt like saying, “You want to go for a walk, don’t you?”
The spire of the cathedral came into view, and the cross towering under the winter sky felt like the heart of this alley. In fact, Ham-an Cathedral serves as an important landmark on Haenim's Embracing Road, making it a central point for exploring the alleys.
The house of the village head is another significant landmark alongside the cathedral. Here, you can find the most beautiful sculpture that embodies the essence of Haenim's Embracing Road.
It's the Little Prince and the Fox. What are they looking at? The fact that only their backs are shown seems to carry the intent of the artist. It’s a sensory piece of art.
For your information, there is a public parking lot next to the village head's house, making it convenient if you visit by car.
On the walls of the narrow alley, there are paintings depicting old scenes. The more you explore slowly, the more you can feel the subtle charm of the space.
The family of ducks perched on the roof is also incredibly cute.
Having traveled through many mural alleys, this place has a unique sensation that can only be felt here. Imaginative murals and sculptures fill every corner of the alley.
Determined to explore further, I continued walking inward.
Recently, 'garden culture' has been spreading in small cities across the country. As part of urban regeneration projects, residents are coming together to cultivate the quiet towns left behind by departing children. It can be said that every neighborhood resident becomes a protagonist of the garden.
In the village where Haenim's Embracing Road is located, I felt a similar vibe. Every space touched by the residents' hands was warmly decorated.
As I walked, I arrived at a mural street sign, indicating I was at the intersection of Bangmok 2-gil and 3-gil.
While vibrant urban culture is appealing, I recommend this place for those who enjoy quiet and beautiful alley explorations. It was a brief yet profound journey where art and life intertwine.
