As the weather becomes significantly colder, we tend to seek pleasant indoor spaces rather than outdoor activities.

Today, I would like to introduce one of my favorite indoor places in Ulsan that I often visit: the Jangsaengpo Cultural Warehouse.

This venue beautifully transforms traces of the past into art.

I rushed over after hearing that a very special exhibition was taking place on the third floor.

The main purpose of this visit was to enjoy the dazzling light spectacle at the 'Vivid Fantasy' media art exhibition.

With high expectations for the artistic direction of Kim Tae-hyun from Space Monkey Design, I entered the venue.

Shall we dive into the sea of art together?

Jangsaengpo was originally famous as a center for the whaling industry.

Over time, the once-functioning Sechang Frozen Warehouse has been reborn as a cultural complex for citizens, known as the 'Jangsaengpo Cultural Warehouse.'

True to its name, this space holds significant historical meaning for the Jangsaengpo area while also serving as a treasure trove of new culture.

The building consists of six floors, including a rooftop garden.

Each floor offers interactive zones for children, exhibition halls that stimulate adult emotions, and a cozy book café for relaxation, fulfilling its role as a worthwhile indoor destination in Ulsan.

The exhibition featuring Kim Tae-hyun from Space Monkey Design boasts the subtitle 'A New World Painted with Light and Sound,' creating an overwhelming atmosphere right from the entrance.

As an artist active both domestically and internationally, I had high expectations for his work, and the way he expanded media art technology into the realms of everyday life and imagination was impressive.

Upon entering the exhibition, I experienced more than just projections on walls; the light, sound, and space felt like a single organism.

The first section was VIVID SAFARI.

As darkness envelops Jangsaengpo, the primal colors hidden within awaken.

Animals displayed their unique patterns and personalities against a black background, moving vibrantly in rhythm with the light and sound.

The colors here were not just simple lighting; they felt like layers of light bursting forth from the cracks of life, visually restoring the hidden vitality of the animals.

The second section, VIVID SPACE, completely shifts the atmosphere.

Shapes formed by light intersect and scatter, creating a unique universe within infinite space and time.

The spatial arrangement of Vivid Space provided a joyful experience, reminiscent of a theme park.

Watching the light's trajectory twist like a roller coaster evokes feelings of time travel, connecting with precious childhood memories.

In this boundless space, discovering fragments of purity amidst the chaos was a delightful adventure.

The final section, VIVID OCEAN, best encapsulated the identity of Jangsaengpo.

As twilight descends over the bustling sea, it showcases the process of the ocean releasing the heat it accumulated throughout the day.

The blend of red and purple hues creates a mesmerizing effect, blurring the boundary between sky and sea.

This moment, where the world takes a breath and the last sigh of the day settles upon the gentle waves, was magnificent.

The fading waves of light portrayed not just evening time but also the moments when our memories and emotions seep into the ocean's currents.

In the boundary where day meets night, and heat meets coolness, light does not disappear but transforms and persists.

The ocean, in preparation for the next world, was giving birth to the night of Jangsaengpo.

My visit to the Jangsaengpo Cultural Warehouse, an indoor spot in Ulsan, was a time of visual splendor and deep introspection.

The temperature and humidity in the exhibition hall were well-maintained for a comfortable viewing experience, and each artwork provided a significant level of immersion, washing away the stresses of daily life.

It is an ideal place to visit with family or friends, or even to quietly contemplate art alone.

Especially, the unique color sensibility created by Kim Tae-hyun was so powerful that it could not be fully captured in photographs.

If you're looking for a unique cultural experience in Ulsan, be sure not to miss this place!
