Exploring the Tranquility of Seoul National University Anyang Arboretum

On a warm spring day,
have you ever taken a moment to quietly focus while inhaling the scent of trees?
I recently participated in a woodworking experience at the newly opened Seoul National University Anyang Arboretum.
The sound of sanding and the feel of wood in my hands instead of my phone helped me find a sense of calm.
The woodworking experience begins with pre-cut wood, where you smooth the surface with sandpaper, trace a design using wood burning, and assemble it into a completed piece.
On that day, I joined the Wednesday program and made a small table, which has become a cherished item in my home.
The Seoul National University Anyang Arboretum, established in 1967, is a historically rich space that has recently opened to the public.
You can enjoy the forest without traveling far or climbing steep mountains, which is a significant advantage.
Spanning approximately 4.7 million square meters, it hosts over 1,000 species of plants.
As you stroll along the paths, you can naturally encounter various flowers and trees.
In early April, when I visited, the landscape was still calm, with flowers yet to bloom.
Despite the cloudy weather, it felt peaceful, and I look forward to seeing the vibrant colors of spring soon.
The arboretum offers various programs beyond woodworking, including forest interpretation and healing programs, all free of charge.
I highly recommend visiting the Anyang Arboretum this spring for a unique experience of nature.
