The old railway has transformed into a new walking path in Andong!
Once a bustling railway line, the Jungang Line has now become a new tourist attraction in Andong.
After the relocation of the Jungang Line, this area remained as a disused railway for a long time, but it has now been revitalized into a scenic waterfront walking path.
Here, you can enjoy the remnants of the old railway alongside the beautiful landscapes of the Nakdong River.
This place is known as Andong's new travel destination, the 'Wolyeonggaram-gil'.✨
Walking along the Wolyeonggaram-gil, you can follow the history and nature of Andong.
The path stretches from Imcheongak, a historical site in Andong, to the Beophungsa Site's seven-story pagoda, connecting to the Seongnak Sky Bridge, the Waryong Light Tunnel, and Wolyeong Bridge.
It is a beautiful waterfront path where you can appreciate the harmonious blend of the old railway heritage, the Nakdong River, and Wolyeong Bridge.
As you walk along the trail, the surrounding scenery, including Wolyeong Bridge, comes into view, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll.
Throughout the path, you will find sculptures made from old railway sleepers, repurposed into train shapes, and resting areas resembling trains, evoking memories of the past.
The scenery from the past when trains used to run here is brought to life.
The charm of Wolyeonggaram-gil changes from day to night.
Each time of day has its unique appeal, so if you have the chance, I recommend experiencing both daytime and nighttime walks along the path.
During the day, you can explore Imcheongak, a site of the independence movement, and the Beophungsa Site's seven-story pagoda, the largest and oldest in Korea, while enjoying the open waterfront walking path.

In September, the Wolyeong Train and Waryong Light Tunnel will officially open, offering a more vibrant experience along Wolyeonggaram-gil.
