Exploring the Local Business Scene in Wanju
Traveling to Wanju is great for visiting famous tourist spots, but if you want to truly experience the local vibe, exploring the neighborhood markets is a wonderful option. Strolling through the market to sample local delicacies and unique shops, then moving to a cozy café to unwind can transform your travel experience.
This time, I visited the Gosan Miso Market and the Yellow Farm headquarters in succession. After enjoying a light meal at the market, I’ll introduce a half-day itinerary that allows you to relax at a café.
The Gosan Miso Market is located in Gosan-myeon, Wanju-gun. Unlike traditional markets, it has a modern and sophisticated atmosphere.
At the entrance of the market, there is a signboard to help visitors locate the shops. Although the layout is not too complex, it is helpful for first-time visitors to understand the overall structure.
The market features eye-catching sculptures, particularly highlighting the local specialty of Hanwoo beef, creating photo spots that add to the fun of exploring.
Another distinctive feature of Gosan Miso Market is the variety of shops gathered in one place. In addition to typical market stalls, there are several experiential workshops that set it apart.
Inside the market, you can find places for leather crafting, drawing classes, and sewing workshops, offering plenty of activities. It definitely feels different from a typical traditional market. Just wandering around and checking out the unique shops makes time fly.
One particularly impressive area is the spacious central space in the market. The shops line both sides, while the center remains open, creating a relaxed and airy atmosphere.
There are several food stalls selling various dishes in the market. On this day, I ordered sandwiches and kimbap from different shops and enjoyed them at the same table, which was a nice experience.
After exploring Gosan Miso Market, I drove to my next destination, the Yellow Farm headquarters in Wanju. If you’ve had an energetic time at the market, this place offers a chance to relax with coffee and desserts.
Upon arriving at Yellow Farm, the first thing that catches your eye is its unique exterior resembling a warehouse. The atmosphere is different from typical café buildings, sparking curiosity about the space from the entrance.
Inside, the spacious interior and unique décor attract attention. Metal structures, green plants, and colorful chandeliers blend to create an exotic ambiance.
Yellow Farm offers a variety of drinks, including coffee, smoothies, lemonades, teas, and desserts. With such a diverse menu, you can choose beverages and treats according to your taste.
On this day, I opted for a dessert made with fresh mango. It was topped with ripe mango slices, making it visually appealing and deliciously sweet and refreshing—perfect for summer.
After spending time indoors, I also explored the outdoor space. The grassy yard has yellow umbrellas and tables, making it a great spot to enjoy on a nice day.
Exploring the local market and enjoying drinks and desserts at Yellow Farm made for a delightful half-day trip to experience the unique charm of Wanju.
