Exploring the C-Channel Optical Store in Taebaek

Walking through the snowy streets of Hwangji,
a blue sign catches my eye.
C-Channel Glasses and Contacts, Taebaek Branch.
This is the optical store I've been visiting for over 10 years.
This time, I came to get multifocal lenses.
As I age, it's getting harder to read small text,
so I decided to upgrade to proper multifocal lenses.
At the entrance, there are stickers indicating that various payment methods are accepted,
including Taebaek Love Gift Certificates, Gangwon Gift Certificates, Dream Card, and Tantan Pay.
This is great news for those using local gift certificates.
Upon entering, a spacious store unfolds before me.
I was surprised to see such a large optical store in Taebaek when I first visited.
The glass display cases are filled with various frames,
and one wall is lined with sunglasses.
To the right, there are sofas and tables for customers to sit comfortably while waiting
for their glasses to be made.
There were also snacks on the table.
Walking further inside, I found a dedicated contact lens section.
With this kind of size, you can expect to find most products available.
There is a wide variety of frames, including metal, acetate, half-rim, and various colors.
I've changed my glasses several times in the past ten years,
and each time it has been a fun experience.
They also have a selection of children's glasses.
Brands like Dr. Panda are on display,
making it a popular spot for families visiting with kids.
In the sunglasses section, there are brands like OAKLEY and GUCCI.
Some customers come to get sunglasses before heading to the ski resort in winter.
I also learned about their 3D imaging equipment this time.
It's a HOYA product that measures over 200 parameters needed for lens crafting.
With this equipment, they explained that they consider my eye movements and lifestyle
when fitting my lenses.
Inside the store, there's a lens processing room.
They have HUVITZ equipment,
and it was fascinating to see the glasses-making process.
Watching my glasses being made gave me confidence in their quality.
The pricing is also transparent.
Ready-made magnifiers start from 10,000 won,
while custom-made ones begin at 40,000 won.
For purchases over 50,000 won, 10% of the amount is credited,
and using C-Channel glasses gift certificates allows for an additional 10% discount.
For those driving, there is parking available across from Jumak Agujjim.
The store provides parking vouchers (30 minutes).
The multifocal lenses I ordered are HOYA products,
and they offered them at about 20% off the regular price.
The couple who run the shop are both friendly and thorough in their explanations.
I've never seen them rush through vision tests, frame selection,
or fitting.
There's a reason I've been coming here for over ten years.
They always provide glasses that fit my vision perfectly,
and their aftercare is excellent.
If my glasses slip or need nose pad adjustments,
they help me for free anytime.
C-Channel Optical Store also contributes to the local community.
They participate in the Dream Start glasses support project in partnership with Taebaek City Hall
and produce gas mask glasses as a collaborating optical store for military personnel.
The head optician has served as the president of the Taebaek branch of the Korean Optometric Association
and has received an award for contributions from the Gangwon Optometric Society.
If you need glasses or contact lenses in Taebaek,
this place is worth a visit.
