Have you heard about the Araekabi Themed Road in Ham-an? The Araekabi Themed Road is designed as a bicycle path, but it also features walking trails for leisurely strolls.
You can park in the open space in front of Ye-dam High School, and there is a newly established parking lot available as well. Let's explore this area step by step.
In front of Ye-dam High School, you will find public restrooms along with a café and restaurants. Next to the restrooms, there is a foot-washing area for those who want to walk barefoot.
Additionally, there is a guide map for play facilities, which are not yet visible, but we can expect children to enjoy them once they are completed.
In front of the public restrooms, Ara-singsing electric bicycles are available. These bicycles are placed at several locations, and I recommend checking the usage guide before taking a ride.
The Ara-singsing bike rental includes a fee of 500 won for the first 30 minutes, with an additional 200 won for every 10 minutes thereafter.
I rented an Ara-singsing bike and rode around. While walking was nice, cycling was an enjoyable experience as well. The bike path is well-maintained, allowing for a comfortable ride along the Araekabi Themed Road.
As I continued, I came across a resting area that was beautifully arranged. Although I hadn't traveled far, I noticed a lack of such resting spots elsewhere.
As I cycled, I soon arrived at a newly established resting area, which includes public restrooms, a foot-washing area, and a parking lot. You can also return the Ara-singsing bikes here, and there is a space to brush off any dust from your clothes.
The Araekabi Themed Road is themed around a journey along the historical traces of Ham-an, reminiscent of the old railway. The name Araekabi is derived from the ancient kingdom of Gaya, which is inseparable from the region’s history.
The bike path features signage for safety, with numbered markers in case of emergencies. This is an important detail to ensure a safe riding experience.
As I cycled, the weather began to warm up, and I soon entered a tunnel that provided a refreshing coolness—perfect for summer days.
The tunnel is well-constructed, and continuing through it leads to the road towards Gaya-eup.
On my way back to the bike rental station, I had the chance to explore the Araekabi Themed Road. Riding through the fresh air and enjoying the surrounding nature was a healing experience. In spring, this area will be filled with lush greenery and beautiful flowers—definitely a sight to behold.
