Exploring Soldo: A Hidden Gem in Ulsan

We have arrived at the Bangojin Port, home to Soldo, a representative travel destination of Dong-gu, Ulsan.
The calm waves and boats that seem to have just returned from a trip showcase the unique scenery of a fishing village.
Although there is a public parking lot at Soldo, it was full, so we had to park a bit farther away and walk.
It seems many people decided to visit on the day I went. For reference, the public parking lot at Soldo allows free parking for 2 hours on weekdays and 1 hour on weekends.
The area in the distance where people are gathered is the photo zone of Soldo.
Taking a photo next to the sign that says 'Soldo' captures both the sign and the ocean, resulting in a beautiful picture.
The view of the blue ocean before me is stunning. While Ulsan has many beaches, I personally love the atmosphere here the most. Soldo has a unique, subtle charm.
The lack of parking spots may be due to the nice weather that attracted many fishing enthusiasts. I noticed a lot of people well-prepared for fishing.
There is a legend that when waves crash against the rocks at Soldo, it sounds like a geomungo (a traditional Korean string instrument).
The entire island is covered with rough stones, which is why it is also called Gomboseom (Bumpy Island). The rocks with holes in them are quite fascinating.
This place is also characterized by having three lighthouses. The lighthouse you see now is the Soldo Lighthouse, adorned with a white pillar and a painting of a blue whale seemingly dancing.
The free-spirited image associated with the sea brings joy to those who see it.
If you continue along the path past the first lighthouse, you will reach another lighthouse painted in red.
The path to the second lighthouse is smooth and pleasant for a stroll. Turning your head, you can see the unique rock formations created by the wind and waves, while the other side is bustling with people fishing.
It seems the fishermen were also curious about what they were catching. I found myself peeking over to see what was happening.
This lighthouse has a strong presence compared to the first one. The upper part of the lighthouse is labeled 'Bangeo' (Yellowtail).
You can climb the stairs and take a look around.
From the top of the lighthouse, I could see that the waters around Soldo are quite clear. The clarity of the water allowed me to see fish swimming beneath the surface.
The third lighthouse is located across the water. While I thought I could admire it up close after walking around, there is indeed a unique charm in viewing it from a distance.
South Korea has many lighthouses. There are even people who participate in lighthouse stamp tours, and visiting Soldo offers a fun experience with three lighthouses in one place.
I wrote about my journey to Soldo with the theme of lighthouses. It could be a great reference for those who want to explore Ulsan with a unique theme.
I hope you have a wonderful trip!
