Exploring Hamann's Samji Park and Malijeong

By Namyeongseop, 14th SNS Reporter
Hello! Today, I would like to introduce Samji Park and Malijeong in Hamann, perfect spots for a leisurely stroll while enjoying the vibrant azaleas.
I parked my car near the 'Sindong Village' sign, right next to Namgyeong Town. Across the street, there was a walking trail alongside a resting area for the elderly.
This walking path leads to the Hamann Bus Terminal parking lot, lined with trees on both sides, creating a pleasant atmosphere throughout my walk. Although the course is short, there were quite a few people enjoying their stroll under the refreshing shade of the trees.
In front of the Hamann Bus Terminal, the azaleas bloomed beautifully in various colors such as purple, red, and white, creating a stunning scene. Some terminal users even stopped to take photos and videos of the vibrant flowers.
The lovely pink flower wave starting from the bus terminal extends all the way to the entrance of Malijeong. I later learned that this route is part of the 'Aragaya Historical Pilgrimage Path,' which allows visitors to explore from the Hamann Intercity Bus Terminal to Samji Park, Gaya Market, and Aragil in one go.
The Aragaya Historical Pilgrimage Path is a pleasant walking route connecting historical sites and local attractions, allowing you to enjoy a stroll while learning about history.
Now, let’s head to Samji Park! Located in the heart of Gaya-eup, this area was renovated extensively in 2022. Once a riverbed, it has transformed into a vibrant space centered around a permanent stage, hosting various cultural performances and flea markets.
Samji Park features large trees that provide a cool shade, making it an ideal place to relax. It is a local healing space filled with neighbors catching up or taking a breather while waiting for the bus after shopping.
During summer, you can enjoy a refreshing artificial waterfall in the park's square, and there are charming paths perfect for a light walk.
As you move up from Samji Park, you will encounter the beautifully decorated Malijeong, which embodies the great spirit of Aragaya and the shining legacy of Hamann's ancestors. It is said that the name 'Malijeong' was derived from the energy of Malisan, the center of the Aragaya tombs.
The area surrounding Malijeong has been systematically organized, providing spaces to exercise or relax amidst the vibrant azaleas. From the pavilion, the urban landscape of Gaya-eup unfolds like a watercolor painting through the lush trees, and enjoying the beautiful scenery in the cool breeze feels incredibly healing.
What do you think about this walking course from the entrance of Sindong Village to the Hamann Bus Terminal, Samji Park, and Malijeong? If you're looking for a place to enjoy the vibrant azaleas and find some healing in a leisurely spot, be sure to visit!
