Welcome!
When you think of Ham-an, you might usually think of the Marisan Tombs, Akyang Ecological Park, or the Summer Lotus Theme Park.
However, today I want to introduce a place I stumbled upon on a map app and instantly fell in love with: Bopsu Park, a perfect spot for a quick break while driving.
Bopsu Park is located near the Ham-an Park Golf Course. You can leisurely park your car along the quiet countryside road and step right into the park entrance.
As soon as I got out of the car, I was greeted by the towering metasequoia trees. Although the park isn’t large, it has a cozy and warm feel.
Bopsu Park was originally called 'Doksan Waste Embankment.' After gathering feedback from a development advisory committee and residents, it was renamed Bopsu Park in 2008. This meaningful location transformed an unused waste embankment into a healing space for residents and travelers.
While Bopsu Park may not have extravagant attractions, it is a place to focus on relaxation. Sometimes, famous tourist spots can be overwhelming with crowds.
At Bopsu Park, I could fully enjoy my own time, listening to the sounds of the wind and the rustling leaves. It seems to be the perfect place to clear a cluttered mind.
Recently, Bopsu Park has gained popularity due to its lush tree canopies. Even in the height of summer, the large trees create a tunnel that provides shade from the scorching sun, making it a favorite retreat and resting spot for locals.
It has also become a hidden gem for couples looking to take sentimental photos while driving through Ham-an. When I visited, the colorful autumn leaves along the roadside added to the seasonal charm.
The park is well-equipped with resting areas and pavilions where you can spread out a mat. If you bring a simple lunch or coffee in a thermos, you can enjoy a picnic while admiring the beautiful autumn foliage.
Bopsu Park features separate walking and cycling paths, simple exercise equipment, and even a foot volleyball court. There are clean public restrooms available, making it convenient for a quick stop during your drive.
Bopsu Park is a valuable pause in your journey when traveling through or visiting Ham-an. If you want to clear your mind, how about taking a drive to Ham-an this weekend?
