Experience Spring Early at Jeonju Garden Culture Center's Subtropical Botanical Garden

Recently, I visited the Jeonju Garden Culture Center, home to a subtropical botanical garden, as a winter indoor travel destination in Jeonju. It turned out to be a much warmer place than I expected, perfect for escaping the winter chill.
The space filled with lush green plants and the shyly blooming azaleas made me feel like I was welcoming spring a month early. So, shall we embark on a journey to the Jeonju Garden Culture Center, where I met spring?
Located within the Mid-San Park in Jeonju, the Jeonju Garden Culture Center is designed to provide a closer experience of garden and plant culture. It is impressive that it is not just a space for displaying plants, but also offers various programs and facilities for citizens to understand and enjoy gardening in their daily lives. In winter, the subtropical botanical garden attracts many visitors as a popular indoor destination.
First, I took a light stroll around Mid-San Park. The park was neatly organized, making it comfortable for walking, and there is also a playground for children to enjoy. Throughout the park, there are benches and tables where one can relax in the warm sunlight, making it a great spot to take a break.
On one side of the park, there is a garden called 'Memory of Grass,' created with donations from Jeonbuk Bank in collaboration with the community. It has a simple yet comfortable appearance, and I look forward to seeing how it transforms in different seasons.
After exploring Mid-San Park, I officially entered the subtropical botanical garden at the Jeonju Garden Culture Center. The garden, spread across two floors, maintains a temperature of around 15 degrees Celsius in winter and about 35 degrees in summer, featuring plants suited to Mediterranean and subtropical climates. As I opened the door, the warm air and vibrant green scenery naturally slowed my pace, making the winter coat feel unnecessary.
The exotic plants, including Mediterranean species and palm trees, filled the high-ceilinged space, making me feel like I had traveled abroad right in the middle of the city. The garden's structure allows for ample natural light, making it a great place for photography and leisurely exploration.
On one side of the first floor, there is a garden market and plant clinic area where visitors can browse garden-related items and receive information on plant care and therapeutic gardening for those struggling with their houseplants.
As I climbed the stairs to the second floor, the view of the botanical garden felt even more three-dimensional and abundant from above. Standing among the tall plants, I felt more connected to them, as if each leaf was closer to me.
The second floor also features a garden library filled with books on gardens, plants, and nature, providing a cozy space to sit and browse through a book.
Surrounded by the green scenery of the subtropical botanical garden, I found a sense of calm. Notably, the azaleas growing inside the library had just begun to bloom, offering a unique experience of welcoming spring a month early.
In conclusion, I introduced the Jeonju Garden Culture Center with its subtropical botanical garden as a recommended indoor travel destination in Jeonbuk during winter. If you are looking for a warm indoor spot in Jeonju this winter, why not spend a relaxing time at the Jeonju Garden Culture Center, where you can also see the shyly blooming azaleas?
