Many people dream of spending a special Christmas in Jeju Island. Unlike the crowded Christmas events in Seoul or Busan, Jeju offers a calmer and warmer year-end atmosphere that feels completely different.
This article introduces major Christmas events and winter festivals across Jeju, from family-friendly Santa villages to romantic Christmas markets and seasonal cultural programs.
Eco Land – Santa’s Mysterious Village
Among the Christmas events in Jeju, Eco Land stands out as the largest venue. The event, titled Santa’s Mysterious Village, runs from November 29, 2024, to February 28, 2025.
Eco Land is themed around a Gotjawal forest train journey and features artificial snowfall regardless of the weather. Four professional snow machines create falling snow from a height of four meters, delighting children and international visitors who rarely experience snow.
From December 14 to 31, a special Christmas week highlights the Flying Santa event, where Santa rides a sky bike and scatters candy from above. Camellia flowers blooming in Samda Garden and themed photo zones make the area especially popular for family photos.
The Grass House, transformed into Santa’s post office, offers a slow post office service. Postcards written during the event are delivered six months later, creating a meaningful and memorable experience for families.
Binahcten Christmas Museum Market
Located in Seogwipo, the Binahcten Christmas Museum allows visitors to experience Christmas all year round. The name Binahcten means Christmas in German, reflecting the museum’s European inspiration.
From November 23 to December 25, a Christmas market opens daily from 4 PM to 8 PM. Over 30 sellers offer ornaments, gifts, wine, and mulled wine, creating a romantic European-style market atmosphere.
Entry is free, as the museum operates on donations. Visitors can also join hands-on programs such as making Christmas wreaths or lamps, making it ideal for couples and creative experiences.
2024 Christmas Village in Ara-dong
The Christmas Village in Ara-dong runs from November 23 to January 4, 2025. It focuses on sharing messages of love and peace with both locals and tourists.
One highlight is Knitting Street, where trees are dressed in knitted outfits created by over 200 volunteers. A media facade show themed around gifts is screened daily from 5 PM to 8 PM.
The village also features a Christmas market, donation booths, dessert contests, and cultural performances including jazz, classical music, and musicals.
Jeju Winter Festival 2024
The Jeju Winter Festival takes place from December 21 to January 19, 2025, in the Hallasan Eorimok area. It highlights Jeju’s winter scenery through photo zones, snow sledding, curling experiences, and traditional games such as yutnori and tuho.
This festival is especially suitable for families and couples seeking a seasonal winter experience in Jeju.
Jeju Museum of Art – Christmas Experience Program
The Jeju Museum of Art runs a Christmas experience program called Santa Village Drift on December 24 and 25.
Activities include creating Christmas shadow boxes for elementary students and families through pre-registration, and decorating Christmas pin buttons for the first 100 participants on site.
