Enjoying the Night View and Music Fountain in Iksan

How about enjoying the night view and music fountain while taking a stroll on a cool evening?
The music fountain at Iksan Central Sports Park is
a perfect place to relax and take a walk on a summer night.
A green oasis in the city,
let me introduce it to you right now.
If you park at the '1st parking lot',
you will be very close to the music fountain.
Located near a bustling area in Iksan, Central Sports Park has long been known as a venue for major annual events and gatherings. During the hot summer months, the 'music fountain' has always been a highlight. Now that it's August, it’s a must-see!
Today, I brought my dog along for the walk while taking photos. It’s not that I found night walks cumbersome; it’s just that there’s a new photo zone I wanted to check out on the way to the fountain.
The fountain performance takes place at 'Maegokje', and I believe most Iksan residents would recognize it as the lake in Central Sports Park. Interestingly, I only just learned that this lake is called 'Maegokje' while writing this (I've lived in Iksan for over 30 years).
One difference from before is that the music selection has become more diverse, featuring songs from the past to current hits. I distinctly remember the first time I saw the music fountain performance, it was all classical music, but today’s selection was quite lively. It seems the performances now include a mix of pop, classical, and hip-hop in a random order.
The area around the fountain isn’t too large, but it’s spacious enough for a simple stroll. As you walk, you can see the octagonal pavilion, and the park’s atmosphere, with its soft lighting, is quite charming.
A key highlight is the rocking chairs located by the roadside. Though there are only a few, sitting on one while enjoying the performance adds to the fun, so be sure to try it out.
As for the fountain, it does splash a bit. Tiny droplets of water are carried by the breeze, which made my dog lower its tail, perhaps thinking of a bath. However, it’s not enough to warrant a raincoat!
The fountain sometimes sprays vigorously in sync with the music, while at other times, the gentle sound of falling water complements the tunes beautifully. The program adjusts the fountain’s movements according to specific songs, creating a mesmerizing experience.
As you walk past the octagonal pavilion, you’ll find a small wooden bridge. Unlike the vibrant lights of the lake, this bridge has a soft glow that creates a delightful atmosphere, perfect for capturing beautiful photos with the contrasting apartment backdrop.
While my Welsh Corgi tends to get hot easily, I wanted to show it the beautiful fountain, but it seemed uninterested. After a short break to enjoy the fountain show, we continued our walk.
Sitting and watching the show was even more impressive. Perhaps it’s because I’ve become accustomed to the daily scenery, but I was reminded that beautiful sights can be found even close to home.
Despite being a weekday evening, many people came to enjoy the music fountain, including families and foreign tourists. Although I’m not great at English, I managed to exchange smiles with some visitors.
The fountain operates during the day as well, but without lights, it might not be as enchanting. If you want to enjoy it with the night lights, I highly recommend checking the schedule after the fourth show.

After finishing our time at the fountain, we decided to take a quick look around Central Sports Park. Although I wanted to stay longer, my dog was eager to run around. While I couldn’t run, I could manage a walk.
We saw several others out walking their dogs. Remember to bring a leash and waste bags as it’s a park!
Now, let’s head home. (But why do the photos look so unflattering? Haha)
The public restrooms are located a bit further inside, not far from the music fountain. The quality of my evening photos isn’t great, but it was impressive to see citizens dancing to the music at the central sports field.
