Sarasu Waterfront Park is an ecological relaxation space located in Gijang-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan. It was developed around the historic Sarasu Reservoir, and the name 'Sarasu' has its roots in a long-standing name dating back to the Silla Dynasty.
The park boasts a beautiful landscape with a lush forest and a tranquil lake. It is cherished by locals as a walking trail for health and by visitors as a healing spot to enjoy serene nature. The seasonal wildflowers and pine forests create a stunning view, making it a representative waterfront park in Gijang.
Did you know that such a beautiful waterfront park exists in Gijang? I recently visited Sarasu Waterfront Park, where the walking paths and lake create a perfect healing environment!
The accessibility is excellent, and the scenery is truly artistic. There is no better place to enjoy nature while taking a walk in the city!
The park entrance has a parking lot, making it convenient for visitors with vehicles.
Throughout the park, detailed information boards guide visitors on the overall layout and walking trail locations, which is very convenient.
As you stroll along the open walking paths, you can also enjoy the view of a massive bridge crossing the mountains in the distance, providing a unique experience. Even as a resident of Gijang, this was my first visit to Sarasu Waterfront Park, and I found it to be peaceful and not crowded.
The view of the lake from the wooden deck path at the park entrance, surrounded by tall pine trees, is healing just to behold, and it feels like all stress disappears!
Nearby the wooden deck, there are swings and benches for resting, and I saw village elders gathering to relax together.
The paths around the lake are well-constructed with both deck and dirt trails, making it enjoyable for light walks. There is also a direct path from the nearby apartments, making it a popular walking route for residents.
Especially the scenery of reeds harmonizing with the lake is like a watercolor painting.
Next to the forest walking path, there is a traditional octagonal wooden pavilion with a tiled roof, beautifully constructed. Inside the pavilion, there are benches along with a digital clock display, showcasing attention to detail.
Thanks to the outdoor exercise equipment installed against the backdrop of the forest, it is also a great place to exercise while breathing in fresh air.
At the end of the new trail, there is a plum tree that blooms a bit later than others, with about a 50% bloom rate as of early March, so you can still enjoy its beauty until March!
In the center of Sarasu Waterfront Park, there is also a pavilion where you can sit and rest while enjoying the surrounding scenery.
As you walk along the trail, you will see plenty of plum and Cornelian cherry blossoms, making the spring atmosphere vibrant. Although they are not fully bloomed yet, it’s still a great opportunity to enjoy the flowers while walking.
The park has restrooms available, but the wooden restroom under the overpass is temporarily closed for renovations, so please note the portable restroom located directly across from it.
Inside the park, there is a colorful playground themed around the forest, complete with bear sculptures and slides, which will surely delight children and make it a great spot for family visits.
In conclusion, Sarasu Waterfront Park in Gijang is a space where the beauty of nature and urban convenience harmoniously blend. Especially during this season with blooming spring flowers, it is a place where you can enjoy a leisurely time with flower viewing and walking all at once. I highly recommend it!
