Camping in Spring at Hyocheonji Campground

Spring has arrived, marking the start of camping season.
Many of you might be planning spring outings and flower viewing.
Did you know there is a place in Uiseong, Gyeongbuk, where you can enjoy free camping alongside beautiful yellow daylilies?
This is Hyocheonji Campground, located in Dain-myeon, Uiseong.
As you drive along the winding country roads, you’ll find the campground surrounded by lush greenery.
Perhaps due to its popularity, the campground was already bustling with campers early in the morning.
I managed to secure a spot just in time.
What makes Hyocheonji Campground so popular?
Unlike many paid campgrounds, this one is free and has excellent facilities.
Although the washbasin facilities were closed a few years ago, the restrooms, lighting, and grounds are well-maintained.
The campground is divided into three levels, with the second level being the most popular.
Its proximity to parking makes it very convenient for setting up tents.
If you prefer a quieter experience, consider aiming for the third level.
However, be mindful of insects during the summer, so insect repellent is essential.
(Be cautious with mosquito coils as they can be a fire hazard.)
Once you’ve settled in, take some time to relax and enjoy a walk around the area.
Directly across from the campground is a large reservoir called Hyocheon Reservoir.
In May, the area around the reservoir is adorned with blooming yellow daylilies and sweet flags, enhancing the scenery.
As I gazed at the vibrant flowers, I felt the unmistakable arrival of spring.
The flower language of daylilies is 'refreshment.'
Seeing the bright yellow blooms truly lifted my spirits.
The reservoir features a wooden deck road and well-maintained paths, perfect for a leisurely stroll.
It takes about 30 minutes to walk around the entire area.
With beautiful flowers and the reservoir as a backdrop, you can capture some stunning photos.
You’ll also find a pavilion along the path, which can serve as a great photo spot.
Some people were fishing at the reservoir, so safety is crucial to avoid accidents.
How about a peaceful two-day camping trip?
I hope you enjoy camping and spring strolls at Hyocheonji Campground with family, friends, or loved ones.
Remember, cleaning up after your camping experience is a basic courtesy!
