Were you caught off guard by the sudden cold snap after thinking it was finally autumn?

With the colder weather, you might be looking for indoor alternatives to your outdoor workouts.

Today, I'd like to introduce the Western Sports Center in Gwangjeok-myeon, Yangju, and its surrounding outdoor sports facilities.

Yangju Gwangjeok Western Sports Center

Address: 177-1, Gwangseok-ri, Gwangjeok-myeon, Yangju-si, Gyeonggi-do

Transportation to Gwangjeok-myeon Western Sports Center

You can take town buses 3-3A (Yangju Station, Gwangjeok Garaebi route) or Ttokbus. Please note that town buses may not operate due to road conditions such as heavy snow or rain.

Yangju City Corporation operates and manages all sports facilities, sports centers, camping grounds, and Immersive VR Experience Centers within Yangju.

You can find information on programs and usage for each facility on their website.

Parking and Electric Vehicle Charging

The Gwangjeok Western Sports Center is located next to the Yangju Arts and Culture Center and has ample parking space as it is close to a jokgu (foot volleyball) field, a park golf course, and a soccer field.

There is dedicated parking for people with disabilities in front of the sports center building, and electric vehicle charging stations are also available in the parking lot.

Gwangjeok-myeon Western Sports Center: Great for Indoor Exercise

Yangju City has sports centers in Eunhyeon-myeon, Deokjeong-dong, Goeup-dong, Gwangjeok-myeon and Okjeong-dong, including this Gwangjeok-myeon Western Sports Center, to promote the health and well-being of its citizens through leisure activities. Feel free to sign up and use the center that is most convenient for you.

Currently, the programs offered include a gym and swimming (aqua aerobics). Swimming and fitness instructors are available, making it easy for beginners to get started.

Relax with a Warm Coffee & Tea

There is also a cafe on the first floor. 'Coffee Nari 2' is a cafe operated by senior baristas over the age of 60 who have received professional training in collaboration with the Yangju Senior Club.

They offer a variety of affordable menu items, including Americano, Cafe Latte, ginger tea, lemon tea, iced tea, tea, and ades, as well as delicious bread, perfect for satisfying your hunger after a workout.

Nearby Sports Facilities

Outdoor Jokgu (Foot Volleyball) / Soccer Field

There are various sports facilities around the Gwangjeok Western Sports Center. Right next to the sports center are a jokgu field, a soccer field, and a tennis court.

Contact for Jokgu Field: 031-828-9725

Contact for Soccer Field: 031-828-9832

Behind the sports center is the Yangju Park Golf Course. The jokgu field, soccer field, and tennis court are all located around the sports center, so you can use the same parking lot as the sports center.

Park golf was new to me, but it looked quite interesting after watching it for a while.

The ball and club are larger than in regular golf, and it's played in a park, so it seems like a good sport to start without the pressure of long drives or distances.

In front of the main entrance of the Gwangjeok Western Sports Center, there is also an outdoor and indoor artificial rock climbing wall.

There are monthly and daily passes available, so if you are interested, please participate.^^
