Wildfire prevention requires everyone's attention and participation.
Wildfire Prevention: Our Collective Effort
A carelessly discarded cigarette butt,
a handful of fallen leaves burned without a second thought,
can lead to a massive disaster.
① No entry to restricted mountain areas!
You can check entry status by entering the address on Naver Map, etc.!
Before hiking, be sure to check whether the area is restricted and use only designated trails.
② No possession of flammable materials (matches, lighters, etc.)
Even a small spark is never safe in the mountains.
If the wind is strong, sparks can ignite fallen leaves or dry grass,
and the fire can spread in an instant.
It is safest not to carry flammable materials such as lighters, matches, or burners when hiking or taking a walk in the mountains.
③ No smoking or discarding cigarette butts
If a cigarette butt that is not completely extinguished falls on fallen leaves or pine needles,
the embers may remain and reignite several hours later.
Therefore, never smoke in the mountains,
and even in designated smoking areas, be sure to completely extinguish cigarette butts.
④ No burning of rice paddies, fields, or garbage
Burning weeds or agricultural byproducts in rice paddies, around fields, or near villages after the harvest season
is one of the most common causes of wildfires.
It is especially prohibited in windy areas or areas close to forests.
Instead of illegal burning, consider using the agricultural byproduct shredding support program.
Wildfires can occur due to a moment's carelessness,
but it takes decades to recover from the damage.
