A Spring Day at Deulseong Ecological Park in Gumi, South Korea

On a spring day when the double cherry blossoms were in full bloom at Deulseong Ecological Park in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province, I enjoyed a leisurely outing along the walking path by Munseongji.
I have organized the details of my visit, including the deck road, the clay path, and the lotus flower spots.
1. First Impressions of Deulseong Ecological Park in Spring
Located near Munseongji in Gumi, Deulseong Ecological Park is known as a popular walking spot for citizens, especially when the double cherry blossoms bloom vibrantly in spring.
During my visit, the entire park was painted in a soft pink hue, allowing me to feel the change of seasons up close.
Many families and couples were enjoying their weekend outings, and it was particularly striking to see people taking photos under the double cherry blossoms.
The park blends naturally with the surrounding apartment complexes, creating a sense of a restful space in everyday life.
2. What Are Double Cherry Blossoms?
Double cherry blossoms are characterized by having more petals than regular cherry blossoms, giving them a fuller appearance.
They usually have a slightly deeper pink color and bloom later than regular cherry blossoms, making them known for beautifully adorning the end of spring.
During my visit, the fully bloomed double cherry blossoms resembled a cloud of flowers, captivating my attention throughout the walk. Up close, the petals were layered, giving a more three-dimensional feel.
3. A Relaxing Walking Route Along Munseongji
I also walked along the Munseongji walking path that runs beside the park.
At the pavilions along the way, I saw citizens taking a break, and the walking path along the water created a comfortable atmosphere.
Especially at sunset, the reflection of the mountains and double cherry blossoms on the surface of Munseongji was impressive.
Walking in the tranquil environment naturally brought a sense of calm to my mind.
4. Review of Well-Maintained Walking Paths and Facilities
Inside the park, there are well-maintained deck roads, barefoot clay paths, and masato paths.
There is a shoe storage area, allowing many visitors to experience walking barefoot.
Additionally, benches are spaced appropriately for resting, and the nearby Deulseong Sports Center, park plaza, and restrooms make for convenient facilities.
While parking is generally relatively spacious, it was somewhat crowded during my visit due to the double cherry blossom season on the weekend.
There are options to park on the roads near the park or use the parking lot at the Deulseong Sports Center.
5. A Walking Spot with Different Charms in Each Season
I visited this time to see the spring double cherry blossoms, but I learned that in summer, the area is covered with lotus flowers, presenting another beautiful scene.
The changing natural space throughout the seasons makes me want to visit again.
Most notably, the harmonious blend of the surrounding apartments and nature left a strong impression, and I found great satisfaction in having a walking spot that is easily accessible in daily life.
As I looked back at Munseongji once again at sunset, the combination of double cherry blossoms and mountain scenery provided a perfect ending to the day.
The atmosphere made me want to stay, and the beautiful scenery of double cherry blossoms at Deulseong Ecological Park will remain a cherished memory of this spring day.
