A Refreshing Visit to Sldo Art in Ulsan
After a long winter, the arrival of a new season brings an inexplicable sense of anticipation, making both body and mind feel lighter.
With the warm weather, I took a walk with my child to Sldo in Dong-gu, Ulsan.
However, being by the sea, the wind was quite strong. ^^;;
But that’s okay.
Right nearby is Sldo Art, where we could enjoy exhibitions and escape the wind.
Sldo Art, set against the backdrop of the Sldo lighthouse, is a cultural and artistic space with free exhibitions and related experience programs, making it a great place to visit with children.
There is a spacious public parking lot right in front, making parking convenient. (2 hours free on weekdays, 1 hour free on weekends)
On the first floor, there is the Sldo Café where you can enjoy a cup of tea.
Sldo Art operates from 10 AM to 6 PM (last entry at 5:30 PM), with a break from 12 PM to 1 PM. Please note that it is closed every Monday.
On weekends, experience programs related to exhibitions are held on the first floor, with two sessions on Saturdays.
Session 1: 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Session 2: 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM
The current experience program, 'My Heart is Bubbling', allows participants to blow bubbles mixed with paint to create their own heart artwork. Participation is free, and families with children can register at the information desk on the first floor, 10 minutes before the program starts.
Exhibitions are available from the first to the second floor.

The exhibition runs until March 22 and viewing hours are the same as Sldo Art's operating hours.
This exhibition features works by artists Jeon Sang-hee and Ji Hye-young.
On the first floor, the 'Do' exhibition hall showcases Jeon Sang-hee's works, capturing scenes of people and their vibrant moments in urban spaces.
Continuing to the second floor, the 'Art' hall features Ji Hye-young's works.
These pieces express choices and possibilities through images and movements of water, conveying the message that emotions, like waves, come and go, yet new energy and hope continuously emerge.
In the ever-changing flow of life, the artwork gently prompts us to reflect on our current place.
This is the 'A' hall.
The works of both artists reveal the rhythms and emotions of daily life in different ways, naturally guiding viewers through their own experiences and sensations.
Especially, the 'A' hall offers a special view of Sldo.
On days when you want to pause in the midst of routine, let the wind of Sldo accompany you as you open the doors of Sldo Art. The stories of creation and dissolution told by the two artists will quietly linger in your heart.
In the exhibition hall, I took a photo with the sea as my background using the photo cards provided.
Going up to the rooftop, the sea view was breathtaking.
However, the wind was too strong, so I couldn't stay long.
