Visiting Seonam Lake Park
I recently visited Seonam Lake Park, a representative lake park in Ulsan.
This park, established to supply industrial water, has undergone significant improvements over the past 40 years. The previously fenced area has been transformed into a beautiful space with walking paths and various themed facilities, blending nature and human activity.
Seonam Lake Park is a charming destination to visit year-round.
Seasonal Scenery of the Park
In spring, it is famous for cherry blossoms, while summer brings lush greenery to the park. Autumn showcases colorful flowers and foliage, and winter offers its own unique beauty.
There is a board introducing the old names of Seonam Lake Park, which was once known as Geunttbaw or Geunttbaw Village.
Just behind the park is Sinsun Rock, which is currently obscured by pine trees but is said to be a sharp rock formation. A few households still remain in the village at the foot of this rocky mountain.
Walking Paths and Park Atmosphere
The walking paths will be closed until February 28, 2026, so please keep that in mind.
In front of the rest area at Seonam Lake Park, there is a pavilion that serves as a meeting spot, where many citizens gather to chat.
Although winter brings a sense of desolation, the blue sky is truly beautiful.
Crossing the bridge over the lake, you can see ducks floating by. Despite the winter chill, many people were enjoying walks during the warm daytime.
The park features several walking trails, including a path that circles the lake and another that runs alongside it.
I chose to take a brief stroll along the side path instead of walking the entire loop around the lake.
Exploring the Trails
Walking along the dirt path that leads to wooden decking, I felt a connection to nature.
As I walked, I noticed blue stairs that lead to the smallest church, temple, and cathedral in South Korea.
Winter Decorations and Photo Spots
Another attraction of Seonam Lake Park these days is the Christmas tree and various sculptures. While visiting at night would showcase their dazzling beauty, even during the day, the decorations are lovely.
Located opposite the rainbow playground, the sculptures are set up on the grass, making it a great spot for children to explore.
There are quite a few trees and sculptures to enjoy and take pictures with.
The decoration period for the trees lasts until January 31, 2026, and they are illuminated daily from 6 PM to 11 PM. For those who only wish to see the trees, parking at the rainbow playground would be more convenient.
The main tree in the central courtyard is quite grand. The spacious yard, adorned with beautiful scenery, complements the tree beautifully.
There is also a photo zone where smaller trees are gathered, perfect for capturing memorable moments.
Family-Friendly Park Experience
Surrounding the tree decorations are lights shaped like deer, whales, and snowmen, which children would surely enjoy.
I had a wonderful time at Seonam Lake Park, which features well-maintained walking paths, nearby temples, a rainbow playground, and festive decorations. I highly recommend visiting with family or children on the weekend.
