In my previous post, I mentioned visiting Sagungdumi to watch the sunrise.

After enjoying the sunrise, I pondered what to do next

and decided to check out the Masan Daetgori Dawn Market, which is only open on Sunday mornings.

Having lived in Masan for over twenty years,

it was my first time visiting the market in the morning.

It might also be my last,

as waking up early is tough!

Even though it was a cold winter morning,

there were many diligent people shopping.

I had never seen so many people at Daetgori before.

Most of them were in the age range of parents,

and I hardly spotted any young people.

We weren’t there to shop; we went to snack.

There were plenty of treats near Lotte Mart.

I tried some odeng, but it was a bit cold.

There was someone frying odeng next to me,

but the oil splattered on my friend’s jacket.

Nobody noticed until we found oil spots on her padding...

Some passing by were worried, asking what to do.

Of all things, it had to be oil on her jacket!

We also had some big, thick king odeng,

which was indeed thicker than regular odeng.

It cost only 800 won!!!

I want to eat it again!

The broth was spicy and delicious.

There was also a snack shop selling tteokbokki and fried food,

located a bit further down.

It’s near the direction of Hanaro Mart, past Lotte Mart.

There was no place to sit,

so we ended up squatting on a bench in a nearby park to eat.

Is this what youth feels like?

I also tried kongguk,

which was from a place aptly named Daetgori Kongguk.

It was popular enough to have a waiting line.

We arrived early and skipped the line!

The seating was communal, adding to the market vibe.

Kongguk cost 3000 won

and was served piping hot.

It seemed like a perfect breakfast option!

Inside, there were chewy rice cake pieces,

which added a delightful kick.

I wanted more of that deliciousness!

Sipping the broth after chewing the pieces was heavenly.

There were sugar and salt on the table,

so you could adjust to your taste.

I added a moderate amount of sugar.

My friend initially added a pinch of salt,

but when she noticed no flavor change,

she dumped in a whole spoonful!

It turned into salt soup!

She was so funny!

It was inedible, and she ended up leaving it.

For someone like me who usually skips breakfast,

the portion was a bit much,

but for breakfast eaters,

it seemed like a nutritious and great dish.

I want to try it again next time!
