※ This course starts from the "Ulsan Miracle Library," passes through the Gwanmunseong Fortress Trail, and descends to the Cheonmasan Cypress Forest.

1. Key Highlights of the Gwanmunseong Fortress Trail

Panoramic view of the mountains from the Gwanmunseong Cheonmasan Observatory (towards Yeomposan, Magolsan, Muryongsa, and Dongdaesan)

- Gwanmunseong Fortress Walls: The most significant highlight of this course is the Gwanmunseong fortress wall itself.

Built during the Silla Dynasty, this fortress has stood for over a thousand years, guarding the border between Ulsan and Gyeongju. As you walk along the forest path, you'll encounter traces of the magnificent fortress walls harmonizing with nature.

- Surrounding Natural Scenery: The Gwanmunseong Trail boasts lush forests and beautiful mountain views.

Especially in autumn, the colorful foliage creates a stunning landscape. It's a place where you can experience both historical significance and healing in nature.

2. Walking the Path of a Thousand Years: A Story that Begins at Gwanmunseong

- The Gwanmunseong Trail is part of Ulsan's representative walking course, the "Ulsan Eoulgil Trail."

The Ulsan Eoulgil Trail is an ecological path that follows mountains and rivers, offering various courses with excellent natural scenery and pleasant walking conditions.

- Walking in Ulsan is more than just moving your body.

Like feeling the earth's energy barefoot on the Taehwagang Hwangto Barefoot Path or walking along the coast on the Haeparang Trail Course 8, Ulsan's paths welcome us with different charms.

Among them, the Gwanmunseong Trail is a perfect place for contemplation and historical exploration, where the past and present coexist.

3. Points & Joys Encountered at the Beginning

- The Miracle Library, crows seen throughout Ulsan, and the calm waters of the Dongcheon River create a wonderful city.

The entrance to Gwanmunseong is easily accessible from the city center. You can take Ulsan BUS (122, 432, 762, 1432) and get off at stops 40311 or 40312 to reach the starting point.

- Ulsan is a truly charming city.

With the blue East Sea, the Taehwa River flowing gently, and the mountains unfolding in layers behind them, many people enjoy the natural scenery and walking trails. Among them, 'Gwanmunseong' adds a special meaning to Ulsan's walking paths.

- Ulsan's charm lies in the Dongcheon River's water and the silver reeds.

- Crossing the Dongcheon River, there is a signpost on the levee road, a well at the entrance to the hill, and another signpost at the foot of the mountain.

4. Climbing "Gwanmunseong"

4-1 Climbing the Entrance

"Ulsan Eoulgil" Course

The Ulsan Eoulgil consists of a total of 7 courses, with a total length of approximately 75km. It is an ecological path that connects mountains and rivers, allowing you to appreciate the diverse scenery of Ulsan while walking.

Ulsan Eoulgil Section 4: Harmony of History and Forest (including Gwanmunseong)

Route: A portion of the approximately 11.5km course that starts from Giryeongjae (or Ewha Elementary School), passes through Hoeyanggol, Jungsan Industrial Complex, Jungsan Miracle Library, Gwanmunseong Trail, Cheonmasan, and Cypress Forest, and continues to Manseokgol Reservoir.

- "Seongwangsa" where you meet the joy of climbing

- It seems to have beauty (Dancheong), a path (Gil), and a Jangdokdae (platform for crocks), but no one lives there.

- Passing Cheongwangsa and climbing to the observatory, you can see the fields and villages after the harvest, the Dongcheon River flowing, and the mountain range of Samtaebong, Dongdaesan, Donghwasan, Muryongsan, and other unnamed mountains. You can also see Ulsan's industrial heart (Ewha, Jungsan, Maegok) industrial complex.

4-2 Walking the Exploration Path

- You can see Ewha Village and Daegok Apartment Complex from the 1st Observatory.

- If you turn the direction a little, you can see Muryongsan, Maegok-dong, Nongso 3-dong, and parts of Buk-gu and Jung-gu, and the Ulsan Bridge in the distance.

- The signposts and well-maintained beautiful roads, and the autumn foliage that meets the light are beautiful.

- You can feel the autumn of Gwanmunseong Trail and Munsusan Mountain range in the distance.

- You can feel the autumn of Gwanmunseong Trail and Chisulryeong Mountain range in the distance.

- People enjoying the Gwanmunseong exploration and stealing magpie rice.

"Magpie Rice": When harvesting persimmons in late autumn, persimmons are left unpicked for magpies and other birds to eat.

- The relationship I met on the road is the love of "Gwanmunseong" by hikers who visit every day after retirement from Ewha Village and office workers who come every day after meals at the Seokgye Industrial Complex.

- You can enjoy the harmony of reeds, autumn foliage, pavilions, and light encountered during the Gwanmunseong exploration.

4-3 Walking the Exploration Path and Viewing Cheonmasan

- From Cheonmasan, you can see Ulsan Muryongsan, Ulsan Bridge, Munsusan, and the mountains beyond.

- The joy of meeting at the top of Cheonmasan.

5. Descending the "Cheonmasan Cypress Forest"

5-1 "Cheonmasan Cypress Forest and Maple Road & Outdoor Auditorium

- Ulsan citizens enjoying the Cheonmasan Cypress Forest.

- The autumn leaves encountered on the way down add to the fun.

6. Gwanmunseong Exploration Review

After finishing the Ulsan Gwanmunseong exploration and starting from the Miracle Library, you can see Ulsan Buk-gu, Jung-gu, and Nam-gu, and from the top of Cheonmasan, you can see the city center and mountain ridges.

On the way down, I enjoyed the perfect autumn hiking course with the forest bathing area and Manseokgol Reservoir.

Every moment was healing, from the wonderful scenery where the city and nature blend, to the open view, and the peace of the forest bathing area.
