A Healing Stroll Through Seoknamsa Temple Amidst Autumn Foliage

Nestled away from the urban bustle of Ulsan, there's a temple where you can immerse yourself in nature, listening to the sounds of the valley stream and admiring the vibrant autumn foliage while taking a leisurely walk.
I recently visited Seoknamsa Temple, a historic temple located at the foot of Mt. 가지산 (Gajisan), the highest peak of the Yeongnam Alps, to enjoy the fall colors.
After parking at the paid parking lot near the Seoknamsa Temple bus stop, I arrived at Seoknamsa Temple, where there is no longer an entrance fee.
The entrance gate, known as Iljumun Gate, displays the name "Gajisan Seoknamsa Temple," indicating the entrance to the temple in Deokhyeon-ri, Sangbuk-myeon, Ulju-gun, Ulsan.
Located at the base of Mt. 가지산 (Gajisan), the highest of the nine peaks of the Yeongnam Alps, Seoknamsa Temple is also a popular starting point for those hiking Mt. 가지산 (Gajisan).
The path to Seoknamsa Temple is perfect for a stroll, lined with dense pine trees and various deciduous trees.
Visiting this forest path in the fall offers a healing experience, with the opportunity to admire the red and yellow maple trees.
Many people were taking photos under the pine forest and enjoying the scenery.
Crossing the Cheongungyo Bridge towards Seoknamsa Temple, you can hear the refreshing sound of the valley stream flowing down from the dense forests of Mt. 가지산 (Gajisan).
Listening to the clear stream is naturally healing. Seoknamsa Temple Valley is also famous as a popular summer retreat.
After crossing either the Cheongungyo or Banyagyo Bridge and climbing the stairs of Chimgyeru Pavilion, the scenery of Seoknamsa Temple unfolds before your eyes.
Among the traditional Korean buildings, a three-story stone pagoda, symbolizing Buddha's tomb, stands in front of the Daeungjeon Hall.
After slowly exploring the temple, filled with the atmosphere of autumn, I went to see the treasures that represent Seoknamsa Temple.
Behind the Daeungjeon Hall, there is a path leading to the Seoknamsa Temple Stupa.
Seoknamsa Temple was founded in 824 AD by State Preceptor Doeui of the Silla Dynasty and was restored in 1957 by the Bhikkhuni Inhong, continuing as a Bhikkhuni temple to this day.
The Seoknamsa Temple Stupa, built during the Silla Dynasty, is a relic where you can feel 1,200 years of history.
This stupa, enshrining the relics of a monk, features a rectangular relic chamber at the center of the upper surface of the pedestal's middle stone.
Looking closely at the stupa, which bears the marks of time, you can see carvings of lions, cloud patterns, floral bands, and guardian deities.
Escaping the concrete-filled city, I had a healing time at Seoknamsa Temple, listening to the sounds of birds and water while admiring the autumn foliage.
Visit Ulsan Seoknamsa Temple now to enjoy the autumn foliage and take a healing stroll through this ancient temple.
