Hello, I'm Greemihongkkot!

Every weekend, I always wonder how to spend quality time with my kids after a busy week. Last weekend, we visited the Lee Ungno Museum in Daejeon, a special place where nature and art harmoniously blend together.

I wanted to give my children, who might find art unfamiliar, a new experience. And I, Greemihongkkot, also wanted to enjoy some culture after a long time.

We spent time appreciating art in a surprisingly relaxed atmosphere and created another precious memory with the kids.

Happy Times

The Lee Ungno Museum in Daejeon is located next to Hanbat Arboretum, so we could feel a peaceful atmosphere surrounded by lush nature.

A significant advantage was the ample parking space right in front of the museum, which allowed us to visit without any parking worries.

Dreamlike Moment

When going out with kids, parking is always a concern, but here we could enter at our leisure without any worries.

The admission fee was also very reasonable.

It was priced affordably for both adults and children.

You can pay in advance at the entrance.

Lee Ungno Museum Admission Fees

Adults: ₩1,000

Children/Teenagers: ₩600

Free admission for seniors (65+), children under 6, and people with disabilities (Levels 1-3) and their guardians.

Inside, there is an information desk and the entrance to the museum.

Now, we started to appreciate the artworks in earnest.

Wonderful Photo

The interior of the museum was bright and comfortable.

“How did they create this?”

While looking at the artworks with the kids, we first talked about how they felt and then read the explanations of the pieces.

The word “kaleidoscope” comes from Greek and refers to a device that allows you to observe beautiful shapes.

In the East, it is called a “kaleidoscope” because it shows colors and patterns that are not constant and constantly change.

Since the 2010s, Shin Jung-deok has paid attention to these characteristics of kaleidoscopes, believing that life phenomena appear in countless different ways depending on the viewer.

Bright Future

The artist depicts human bodies or giant trees in his works as if they are shaking momentarily, capturing fleeting moments of life at the intersection of space and time.

In the scenes where time and space intersect, created by the artist, various symbols such as flowers, quinces, stones, numbers, and hourglasses are naturally arranged.

These shapes awaken the cycle of life in infinite time and provide clues and inspiration to find answers to fundamental questions about life.

The artworks may seem difficult at first glance, but if you look closely, you can find familiar subjects such as people, letters, and nature harmoniously blended together.

Dreamlike Moment

I'm glad I came with the kids!

I found myself standing in front of the artworks for a long time.

The exhibition route was also very efficient, so I was able to appreciate everything from beginning to end without missing anything.

Information signs were well-placed throughout the museum, and we could talk with the kids while looking at the pictures.

Instead of rigid and difficult explanations, the method of expanding imagination and encouraging conversation through the artworks meant that the children were not bored and looked at the works with interest.

Touching Scene

On the way out of the museum after our visit, there was a museum shop.

Various souvenirs, stationery, and related books were on display.

The kids enjoyed looking at the pretty souvenirs at the art shop and reminiscing about the fun they had at the museum.

The Lee Ungno Museum in Daejeon was a meaningful space that cultivated artistic sensitivity in children and quenched the thirst for art that adults had forgotten for a while.

It felt like escaping from the complicated city, and I especially liked being able to immerse myself in the artworks quietly in nature.

Dreamlike Moment

If you are planning a special weekend outing with your child, visit the Lee Ungno Museum in Daejeon.

I hope you will create precious memories with your family in the tranquility of art.
