A Fall Hike at Inwangsan

While reminiscing on a warm spring day, I found myself flipping through last year's autumn memories.
I want to share my experience from my hike on Inwangsan in October 2025.
Looking at the photos from that crisp autumn day makes me recall the refreshing air and beautiful scenery even more vividly.
Although Inwangsan isn't known for vibrant autumn foliage, the harmony of silver grass, rocky ridges, and clear skies was truly beautiful.
✔ Hiking Information
Hiking Date: October 2025
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate (suitable for beginners)
Duration: Approximately 1.5 to 2 hours round trip
Advantages: Excellent views, well-maintained trails, easy navigation
???? Hiking Route & Access
We started our hike using public transport from Gwanghwamun Square.
The direct access to the mountain from the city center is quite appealing.
Walking past Gwanghwamun Square and along the walls of Gyeongbokgung Palace, we soon arrived at the trailhead of Inwangsan.
The juxtaposition of skyscrapers and the mountain creates a unique atmosphere that is distinctly Seoul.
Route: Starting from Sajik Park → Summit of Inwangsan → Descent
The trails are well-maintained, allowing for a smooth walk without any particularly difficult sections.
The path features a good mix of wooden stairs and rocky trails, making it enjoyable for beginners.
Especially at the viewpoint near the summit, the city view of Gyeongbokgung, Bukchon, and Jongno is breathtaking.
On a clear day, you can even see Namsan Tower in the distance.
Inwangsan Summit View
Upon reaching the summit, a refreshing breeze greeted us, and the urban landscape below was stunning.
It's rare to experience both nature and city so close to each other in Seoul.
The phrase "best value hike" for Inwangsan is certainly well-deserved.
Despite the number of hikers and tourists, the wide trails didn’t feel overcrowded.
After descending from Inwangsan, we visited a popular buckwheat restaurant, Jeongbaljjin Buckwheat in Seochon.
We ordered the dumpling hot pot set and mixed buckwheat noodles.
This place is especially favored by hikers, often drawing crowds regardless of the day or time.
✔ Ordered Menu
???? Dumpling Hot Pot Set
As the hot pot began to bubble, the aroma filled the air.
The dumplings were plump, and the broth was surprisingly rich.
With a base of anchovy and meat stock and a hint of spiciness, it was perfect for our tired bodies after the hike!
Loaded with mushrooms, tofu, and vegetables, it was light and satisfying, enough for two people.
We wanted to savor every drop of the delicious broth.
???? Mixed Buckwheat Noodles
The mixed buckwheat noodles had a strong buckwheat flavor.
Not overly sweet, the perfectly tangy sauce paired well with the hot pot.
The noodles were chewy and retained their texture until the end.
Inwangsan is easily accessible in the city, making it a great spot for a quick hike.
After a leisurely hike, we descended to Seochon and enjoyed our meal.
It was a delightful experience.
Next time, I hope to hike Inwangsan at sunset to capture the night view.
I can already imagine how beautiful Seoul will look as the sun sets and the lights turn on.
The night scenery of Seoul is always captivating.
On warm spring days like today, looking back at autumn photos makes me want to hike again.
If you're looking to feel nature in the heart of Seoul, I highly recommend this hike.
