It's already mid-August!

My friends and I went on a domestic trip to South Chungcheong Province, specifically Yesan.

Yesan might sound unfamiliar, but it's home to the famous Yesan Market (Yesan Permanent Market), a local hotspot!

It's also known as the Baek Jong-won Market!

From what I know, Yesan County and Baek Jong-won collaborated to completely renovate and remodel this 50-year-old traditional market, turning it into a trendy attraction!

They say over 10,000 people visit on weekends...

I found out that LG Electronics helped create a modern infrastructure, including LED displays and Wi-Fi!

Perhaps that's why you don't feel the typical aging or smells often associated with traditional markets.

It felt like visiting a retro-themed amusement park - atmospheric and clean!

But the food and desserts still capture the essence of a traditional market.

There were plenty of local specialties and unique market treats,

and the prices were reasonable! Hehe.

A great photo

Location Information

Parking Information

There's a parking lot right in front of Yesan Market!

But if it's full due to a weekend visit, don't worry! There are other parking areas nearby.

Business Hours

Daily 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM

Operating hours may vary by store, so be sure to check the hours of the specific place you're visiting!

When you arrive at Yesan Market, there's a parking lot right in front of the entrance!

It's quite spacious.

And there's a very large women's restroom in the parking area!!

For your information, there are also restrooms inside the market.

Even before entering the brick buildings of Yesan Market, the exterior is decorated in a retro style!

It feels like they've uniquely decorated this 50-year-old traditional market.

Touching scene

And since it's called the Baek Jong-won Market, there are many pictures and drawings of Baek Jong-won everywhere!

When you enter Yesan Market, it's huge...

The entrance to the market is the main street!

You can bring the food and desserts you bought from the market here and eat them!

There are fans in places, but it was still hot to sit and eat in the middle of August.

There was also a place where you could rent a grill and grill meat.

If only the weather were like autumn... I'd be grilling meat right away! Hehe.

There were many restaurants on the main street, including fish cake shops, Yeondon Ball Cutlet, butcher shops, and Chinese restaurants!

I went to the inner alleyways.

I heard that Sagwadang apple pie is also famous, and the meat fritters run by a former baseball player who appeared in Les Misérables are also famous.

Let's go find them in the alleyways!

I thought it was really amazing that they remodeled the entire market and came up with the internal concept designs.

Thanks to that, the market is very clean, making it enjoyable to visit!

Happy time

I was thirsty from the heat, so I went to a nearby cafe!

Eoseo-wa U Coffee

"Eoseo-wa-yu" is a Chungcheong dialect for "Welcome!"

Anyway, it's a roastery cafe!

They're operating a roastery near Yesan Market.

They had many types of drip coffee, and they also sold cold brew concentrate inside!

We ordered iced americanos and walked around while drinking them.

The coffee had a bit of acidity and was so-so.

Next, we visited Golmok Brewery Baek Sul Sanghoe to look around.

My friend who likes makgeolli couldn't pass by and stopped to take a look.

Valuable experience

Baek Sul Sanghoe's signature makgeollis are:

Apple Makgeolli

Golmok Makgeolli

It's about 5,000 won per bottle.

They also sell local specialty makgeolli!

I bought noodles and meat fritters as snacks to share with my friends!

The meat fritters are from Shinyang Fritters.

3 for 4,000 won.

The meat fritters tasted more like vegetable dumplings than meat. Hehe.

But it was still juicy and delicious!

Be sure to sprinkle the chili sauce that comes with it!

The noodle shop is Seonbong Noodles.

Sesame Oil Noodles: 3,500 won

Cold Noodles: 5,000 won

Pickled radish also comes with it!

Gorgeous scene

My friend wanted to try kaymak, so we bought it from a kaymak mochi shop.

Mikplo Mochi

It comes in three flavors: milk, chocolate, and injeolmi.

The mochi is about 3,500 won each!

Hmm~ It was delicious!

It's worth trying,

but since it's also available in Gwangjang Market and Songridan-gil,

people living in Seoul don't necessarily have to eat it at Yesan Market!

We bought all the food and went to eat it in the main square!

The noodle tasted as good as the price.

Don't expect too much since it's 5,000 won!

Still, I liked that many places were maintaining the prices of the old traditional market!

Compared to places like Gwangjang Market... it's a great deal!

Amazing sight

Finally,

to make memories~

Photo Signature inside Yesan Market

There were two types with the Yesan Permanent Market concept!

Yesan Market has Yesan specialty apple headbands and apple sunglasses,

so everyone took pictures with them on. Hehe.

So cute.

Anyway, I had a fun time with my late 20s to 30s friends at the traditional market this time!

I used to avoid old traditional markets,

and if I went to any, I only went to places like Jagalchi Market in Busan or Olle Market in Jeju. Haha.

But Yesan Market, with its overall remodeling and reorganization,

felt like a local hotspot that eliminated many of the dislikes of traditional markets!

Thanks to Yesan Market, I visited Yesan for the first time~

I had a fun domestic trip and South Chungcheong Province trip!
