This summer, a cultural event is in full swing, allowing families, friends, and couples to create special memories without traveling far. Since August 1, Gyeonggi Province has been hosting the '2026 Gyeonggi Peace Plaza Lawn Film Festival & Cultural Arts Performance' at the Gyeonggi Peace Plaza in the Northern Government Complex. This month-long event is free for everyone and has gained attention as a summer night cultural outing spot, combining cultural performances and film screenings.
The Gyeonggi Peace Plaza program is a representative cultural initiative designed for residents to naturally engage with and enjoy culture in their daily lives. This year, the cultural arts performances preceding the film screenings have been significantly enhanced, providing even richer entertainment.
The event will run a total of 11 times on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as on August 17, a substitute holiday. From 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM, various cultural arts performances will take place, followed by film screenings from around 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM on a 500-inch large screen.
The cultural arts performances will include singer-songwriter and band performances, as well as a variety of genres such as fusion traditional music, popera, and orchestras. Additionally, there will be shows suitable for children, such as bubble shows and magic performances, making it a great experience for family audiences. This event is characterized by its inclusive programs that allow people of all ages to share and enjoy together through music and performances.
The film screening program has also been prepared with various generations in mind. Popular and critically acclaimed films such as the animated 'Frozen II', action movie 'Top Gun: Maverick', intergenerational communication film 'The Intern', and the touching 'Life is Beautiful' will be screened. Moreover, there will be a diverse selection of genres, including the independent film 'House of Meeting', broadening opportunities for cultural and artistic exposure.
Most importantly, this event's significant advantage is that anyone can participate freely without any entry fee or prior reservation. Attendees can leisurely enjoy performances on the lawn and then watch movies on the large screen, making it an excellent choice for residents seeking a unique cultural experience on summer nights.
As the heat continues in August, how about sharing the joy of culture with family and neighbors through the free cultural arts performances and lawn film festival at Gyeonggi Peace Plaza?
