Sinan-gun is steadily advancing a Green Remodeling Project to improve aging senior centers and create safer, more comfortable spaces for elderly residents.
With most facilities operating for over a decade, the project focuses on energy efficiency upgrades and environmental improvements that directly enhance daily use.
Through phased investment and national support, Sinan-gun aims to strengthen elderly welfare while contributing to long-term carbon neutrality goals.
Improving Aging Senior Centers Across Sinan-gun
Sinan-gun currently operates a total of 415 senior centers that serve as important leisure and communication spaces for elderly residents.
Among them, 371 facilities have been in use for more than 10 years, accounting for nearly 89 percent of all centers.
As these facilities aged, concerns grew regarding declining energy efficiency and increasing inconvenience for users.
Addressing these structural and environmental limitations became a priority for local administration.
Participation in the National Green Remodeling Initiative
To respond to these challenges, Sinan-gun participated in the Green Remodeling Project competition organized by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The initiative ran from 2023 to 2025, aiming to modernize aging public facilities with a focus on sustainability.
As a result of this effort, 44 senior centers in Sinan-gun were selected as official project sites.
A total budget of 5.7 billion won was secured, including 4 billion won in national funding, allowing the project to proceed in phases.
Current Progress and Future Construction Plans
So far, green remodeling work has been completed at 26 senior centers.
The improved facilities now offer enhanced comfort and safety for daily use.
Construction for the remaining 18 centers is scheduled to begin in 2026.
Through this step-by-step approach, Sinan-gun plans to gradually improve all aging senior centers across the region.
Key Focus Areas of the Green Remodeling Project
Energy Efficiency and Year-Round Comfort
The Green Remodeling Project places strong emphasis on improving overall energy performance.
This includes reinforcing insulation, replacing outdated windows with high-efficiency models, and upgrading heating and cooling systems.
These changes help reduce heating and cooling costs while maintaining a comfortable indoor environment throughout the year.
For elderly users, stable indoor temperatures play a crucial role in daily well-being.
Strengthening Elderly Welfare and Carbon Neutrality
Senior centers are more than simple buildings, serving as vital spaces for rest, social interaction, and community life.
Ensuring safety and comfort in these environments is directly linked to the quality of life for older residents.
Sinan-gun plans to continue expanding the Green Remodeling Project.
Through this effort, the county aims not only to enhance elderly welfare but also to contribute meaningfully to broader carbon neutrality objectives.
