Early January arrived with unexpected good news, gentle luck, and moments that felt quietly reassuring.
From shared meals and late-night drinks to walks by the Han River and small personal routines, these days unfolded naturally.
This record captures everyday happiness, changing moods, and reflections that come with growing older.
Good news that arrived at the start of January
Since early January, I’ve been hearing some really good news.
Something I had been quietly longing for finally came to me.
People say those born in the Year of the Ox have good luck in January, and for once, I believed it enough to even think about buying a lottery ticket.
Looking back on luck, faith, and perspective
Compared to last year, when everything felt weighed down by the so-called curse of the number nine, this year feels lighter from the very beginning.
I sometimes think I’m unlucky, but moments like these remind me that it’s not entirely true.
I don’t follow a religion, yet in times like this, I find myself quietly asking the universe for a little help.
Sharing joy over food and drinks
Good things feel better when shared.
The day I went out for lamb skewers with my favorite person was filled with laughter.
We ordered a large bottle, worried we wouldn’t finish it, and somehow ended up drinking highballs too.
Trying a new lamb skewer place
Instead of our usual spot, we tried a new place, and it turned out to be delicious.
There were noodles too, but I completely forgot to take a photo.
A quiet walk and small personal joys
We took a stroll through Hangang Park.
I wondered if I managed to capture the moon nicely that night.
Back home, I made one of my confident dishes, spam musubi.
Everyday routines that feel comforting
I love my eyelash salon so much that I have to wait a month and a half between visits.
Whenever I finally go, I end up chatting and spending time there for about thirty minutes.
I sometimes wish I could just spend the whole day with my favorite lash technician.
A long-awaited visit to Hongdae
After a long time, I found myself back in Hongdae.
I was craving meat, so I searched for a meat restaurant and realized a place I liked in Noryangjin also had a branch here.
Da-Dok’s Charcoal Grilled Meat in Hongdae, closer to Hapjeong Station, was my choice.
Still, the original branch in Noryangjin somehow feels tastier.
Second round at a carefully chosen bar
After eating, we headed to Fringe Group Seoul, a place I had researched in advance.
The entrance felt secretive, like many places these days that hide their interiors.
Once inside, the scent of incense filled the space, and the atmosphere immediately felt like my style.
Comfort food and familiar flavors
I ordered a Long T, exactly the way I like it.
I chose this place mainly because they sell my favorite mac and cheese and fries.
Thanks to a review event, we even received fries for free.
Both the fries and the mac and cheese were genuinely good.
An unexpected solo drinking spot
Out of curiosity, I wandered into a solo drinking bar.
I hesitated, wondering if it was okay to enter alone, but they welcomed me in.
They said up to three people were allowed, and the atmosphere was surprisingly warm.
Thoughts on people and personality
You can play songs you want, and the staff naturally encourages conversation.
Still, I realized I might not be as outgoing as I once was.
I used to be an ESFP, loving people and excitement.
Now, I seem to drift between ISTJ and ESTJ.
Ending the day with honest reflection
As I get older, meeting new people can feel tiring.
I also have a habit of spending money as soon as it comes in.
Maybe it’s time to pull myself together, gently and realistically.
